Yup. Had a friend in the ExTO class that was sent home. Started Sunday, sent home with no return date on Wednesday.

I was in the training center last week. They are having a hard time filling sims with instructors. Lots of check airmen pitching in.

Covid is running through the training center like wildfire. They had over 20 instructors out last week and there is one in the hospital not doing well. Senior management is very strict on masks and if you are walking around without one, someone will stop and ask you to put it on.

They are trying to fill the sims where they can, but it's not easy. The FO who did our static device was called in from home.

we are back to masking in the training center? It was option for jabbed people a couple months back.

neat. I'm sure it'll fix our issues.

Default Hiring 2022

Yes. It's mandatory except for the pilots receiving training in the sim.

I am not here to comment on the efficacy of masks, but if I were running an organization staffed by a bunch of old people that has had multiple hospitalizations, at least one death that I am aware of, and so many people out sick that I can't train the pilots who are there to receive training, I would probably mandate them too. Whatever mitigation techniques they have been using are not working.

One instructor died this morning. Third one since mid September. All unvaccinated according to a college buddy who works as an instructor there.

None of the mitigation techniques are working anywhere. Because you can’t stop a virus.

Best thing for training we could do is to get the MOU signed and let line pilots do all the non-sim events. Instructors can do new hires and upgrades. CKA can do requal.

Spend the $ now to get people trained so the growth plans don’t get scuttled…again.

It's mandatory until the NOC CP giving the leadership briefing takes his mask off and says "We're all adults"...policies aren't effective if leadership doesn't set the example. The policy is in effect in public spaces and briefing rooms...but you won't see many worn in classrooms. I just spent a week there. And yeah, an instructor just died this morning at 3am after going on the ventilator yesterday. Initials SR, retired Delta guy
