-Keep Pilot Credentials updated

-Wait for an application window to open
You’ll hear about it here or maybe a SWA email
Potentially several windows next year

-Attend conferences like OBAP and WAI
They may open a window just for attendees

-Get an email invite for the online interview
About 1 week from invite to interview
Lasts about an hour. Pilot, HR rep
Some basic questions and logbook review

-Get an email invite for in-person interview
Received 3 days after the online interview
Get letters of rec loaded
Complete PRIA paperwork
4 weeks out was next available interview date
1 day interview. Pilots/HR panel & LOI

-Wait 2ish weeks for a call from a chief pilot

-Wait for a class date
Currently filling Jan, Feb, Mar

Here’s my experience. Had app on Pilot Credentials since Sumer 2020. Applied in the July 2022 window as well as the August window for OBAP attendees. On Tuesday sep 14th I noticed my app from the OBAP window was “under review.” I Received email invite for virtual interview Sep 17. No slots were available until October 18th. Received invite for in person interview on October 25th. Scheduled that for November 10. At in person interview they let us know that the decision board for our group would be on November 23rd. Received CJO via phone call from Asst Chief Pilot that day. Now waiting for class date.

Maybe a dumb question. I see on pilot credentials that rec letters should be uploaded there. Are you saying that that’s not necessary until interview invite. And are people getting hired with no internal LORs?

SWA doesn’t weigh/require/look at LORs until after you get the in-person interview invite.

I published my pilot credentials summer 2020, then applied during the July window as well as the August window for (virtual) OBAP conference attendees. I noticed the OBAP submission went "under review" on a Tuesday, then the following Friday I received an email invite for the virtual interview. Waited about a month for virtual bc no slots were available. After virtual, I got an email a week later inviting me to in-person. I scheduled first available in-person which was a little over 3 weeks after virtual. Waited two weeks after in-person for "decision board" to meet. Received a phone call CJO that day from an assistant chief pilot, then a couple email for follow up info. I've been waiting for a class date now for a week. As with the process at most places, the theme is waiting

Pilot Credentials is for Southwest employees who are not pilots. You get a rec from them and upload it to PC.

SWA pilots will submit a rec through their internal system. The window for SWA pilots to submit a rec is between your in-person invite up to one week prior to your in-person interview. There’s no need for any recs prior to getting an in-person invite.
