With what qualified pilots? Remember, in 83-85 you had thousands of qualified out of work pilots that would slit each other’s throats to fly for a major Airline thanks to Uncle Sam and the end of the Vietnam War. I don’t think you could even find 500 that would be willing to do that in today’s job market when literally every Airline is hiring right now.

He’s not entirely off base with his assertion, though I doubt we’ll actually furlough….
We, at Spirit, have a HUGE exposure to this Pratt NEO engine issue which will cause the grounding of many planes. We have the most exposure of any US airline, so compile grounding of planes due to engine MX issues for an undetermined amount of time, coupled with contracting domestic revenue demand, you get Spirit’s financial situation; HORRIBLE!
