It's going to take 2 or 3 weeks of late pushes to due JS seating issues to get this fixed. Wedging another body (or 2) into that tiny cockpit while there are seats in the back because of this policy is just crazy... especially during cold and flu season. I'm all about getting commuters to where they need to be, but Captains are going to have Captain when it comes to this.

I did not see if this is the policy for OAL tho.
I read it once, resisted tossing the iPad across the room, figuratively. and havent read it again

I don't understand why jumpseaters can't both get a seat assignment if there's an open seat, AND board early to make sure there's a place to stow their stuff.
Why are they insisting on two trips down the jetway?
Go to the counter. "I'd like the jumpseat please"
"ok. We have 10 open seats. Would you like window or aisle?"
"aisle please"
"Here is your CASS approval and your boarding pass. Have a nice flight."
show the jumpseat pass to the ops agent. Board early and give the pass with cass approved to a pilot. Then take a seat in back.
This doesn't seem like it needs to be as complicated as they are making it.

I think you are not taking into consideration the hate the front office has for the pilots .

Yes the last contract was better, but it was still subpar. The pay rate is light, the implementation schedule is ridiculous, and the language has no teeth in MANY areas. But we NEVER showed a credible threat to management, so that's what we got. And no, I'm not going to thank yessies for the gains. I guess if I was a short sighted junior FO not looking at the last 20 years of my career as a topped out captain I might have.

Zap, you’re too logical…and correct. Why we couldn’t keep it simple like every other airline in the free world is beyond me, but instead had to do it The Southwest Way.
And don’t forget, in March there will be hundreds of additional newly displaced pilots, all trying their best to get to work along with the hundreds of others displaced too. Jumpseating is going be fun.
All of this, about 24 hours after Bob Jordan sends out his Herb rally cries. As you all can see, we are clearly taking care of the internal customer…
