Deadheading & Assigned Seating
#11
Totally agree, however I guess I could also make the case that during negotiations there were no plans to go to assigned seating, so how much time and effort are you really going to put into ironclad language for deadheads in the event the company went to assigned seating? I'm glad they had the forethought to put anything in there at all under the circumstances.
Also when they negotiated this they had to know it was a 10 yr contract. It should have been better but I feel they were getting negation fatigue

The lack of any updates from SWAPA is concerning. When the company used to f around with us, we used to get hard hitting updates about the company’s unwillingness to budge. Now we don’t get these updates anymore. It’s mostly silence until something does or doesn’t happen.

Sounds like planning to fail.
Most other airlines have contractual language to put the pilots in the upgraded seats. Even American has it. They hold the empty seats up there and put pilots in them.

UA rules. Just for reference, not trying to gloat.
Will be booked in first, priority ahead of all revenue upgrades. If in middle seat 50% add pay. If not in Premium, can refuse the DH. Once airborne and if no duty after DH can have adult beverage.

Sounds very nice. Kind of a pipe dream for SWA pilots. We have the scheduling chair of SWAPA interviewing for a company VP position. Make things worse the union is onboard with it, sending out an email saying what a great job he is doing . The clowns at WN will get a middle seat and just be happy they do not have to sit in the lav.

I’m glad we have a legal protection system for our profession through representation, but the upper echelon of SWAPA has been going down hill. From ELITTgate (those guys are still there), to the election political games, to the applying for Company jobs (hello Karl K is that you?), to dues increases with less results…come on! We went from biggest pickets in airline history to no deal on deadheading a little too fast.
