We’re 11 days from assigned seating. Still no word from the company or SWAPA on how this will work for DHs other than “we’re making progress”. I guess the past 8 months has not been enough time. And like all issues lately, SWAPA is pretty much silent with no updates and a no-care attitude.

It’s become evident that SWAPA does not have any balls anymore and they don’t want to ruffle feathers over at the kompany. No assigned seating for DHs? Displacements? The silence is deafening…

What’s happened to our Union? Serious question.

I 100% disagree with you. I have never seen bigger balls . Look no further than the SWAPA scheduling chair, he interviewed for a vice president position with the company and he’s still working for the union..He even got a shoutout form SWAPA saying what an awesome job he’s doing . Name any other job where someone can interview for the other side/team and still keep their job? I can tell you right now, if one of the chief pilots ran for union rep or other SWAPA position, The company would kick them out of their job as soon as they caught wind of it .

Exactly. SWAPA has been burning through the unity/goodwill forged through over a decade of contentious on and off negotiations. Not a good look.

I promise you the average pilot has no idea and if you told them they wouldn't care if SWAPA told them it was NBD

Yup the same ones that would do this job for free, best part time job, can’t believe we get paid for this, yessies the contract then wonders what this and that has changed or we didn’t get that, just look at rates and boneUS crowd. Just flew with a guy had no clue what CA rates were and couldn’t believe he made this much flying. Just another future swapull lackie follower. Those that think swapull was any different last cycle. LMAO just look at those same clowns and what they are doing now. You guys think they did good by us. That’s the funny part. I’m a short timer and don’t care. The company might even be able to buy my yes vote in the future. Time will tell.

SWAPA sent out an email a while back saying the company refuses to talk about it and they'll have to file a grievance. I guess thats where we are at.
what I can't wait for is the power hungry, pilot hating, CSAs that will assign us a middle in the back regardless of what's available and wait till the last minute. Then we'll have the bitter OPS agent make us check our bag on a half full flight because BEBOP said so and then the best one is the FAs that will write us up if we change seats because that middle isnt as appealing as the ELR aisle sitting open with no one in the middle in row 5.

Now im sure it'll only be 20% of the workforce who gets to experience thsi, but it will be 99% of what we'll hear.

Just this week I had a FA tell.me I needed to sit behind the wing while non reving. Even after I sat down and put my stuff away in row 8 she continued to tell me I needed to move 3 more times.
I was polite and said this seat will work just fine for me. Im sure if I was DH and she had my name id get a phone call.
let the games begin

Is that behind the wing thing in writing anywhere?

it's encouraged or recommended not required.
With 50 open seats that day on a 700 I dont think it matters. Not that i ever sit behind the wing anyways

Good job on standing your ground politely.

I always deadhead/non rev on row 5. Sorry row 20 is not operationally feasible. It’s not required to go past the wing. If you got a short connexion when DH , seating in the back just creates more delay…i see guys going past the wing, for no reason.

The other big 3, if a business seat is available, It’s given to the deadheading guy by seniority. We don’t need to be different.

I guess some guys will happily seat in a middle seat, next to the rear toilet just to show the world their warrior spirit.

let’s just follow industry standards, it’s not very hard. It will be a very interesting time once we go assign seating this month. This topic sounds fatiguing already.

This is only the 2nd time it has happened when a FA was persistent.
The other time I was a DH and sat row 8 with the other guy with was flying with when the FA came and told us we need to move to the back. We again said no thanks but then showed her the other 6 DH that were in front of us if she wanted to go ask them as well.

I think it's an old unwritten rule and some haven't gotten the memo it's not required yet.

However, I do believe assigned seating will be an issue.
Good thing we have tools at our disposal if need be
