The office folks are paid and stafed at a much lower rate as well as gate and ramp personel. If they were to go in and raise wages to UAL or DAL wages for all workers the ship would sink just do the math. The pilots contract alone would cut over 1 billion in profits out of the company over 5 years. Throw in all the other employees wage increases in and you no longer are profitable. Thats the point of being a ULCC and being able to price flights cheep. A big airline makes a much smaller profit but does it on a massive scale with infinit routes so they can offset the smaller margin. I have numerous buds still at Spirit and they went their knowing it was a stepping stone and are getting out. You want big airline wages go to a big airline. When you were hired you knew what Spirit was so to say its a legacy comparable with wages is just an absolute blunder.
Mr. Cucumber, don't you have better things to do than coming here to stir the pot?

Hey beans,

Financial analysis completed by the same people that do it for delta and united has proven that our proposal is not only affordable but they will continue to be wildly profitable.

The company thinks it has turned their weakness (lack of pilots) into a strength through this injunction/hearing. They are playing smoke and mirrors. The problem is that they just turned the workplace into a hostile one. They already have trouble hiring and retaining enough pilots. They will rue the day they filed the injunction.

Beans is a good guy, he's actually uniting us. I hope he posts and talks this way to all the 1600 pilots on property.

Carry on Beans.

And in all the years it took to go from your ULCC to your major airline, you never once had a comment, or question, about any number of topics that are frequently discussed on this forum by actual pilots?

You just decided in the last couple days, to take a break from your daily routine, to jump into this particular thread, about an airline you don't work for, on a contract that won't affect you, posting a pro-management viewpoint and trying to lower expectations? Riiiiight.

Impressive...in two posts Beans already earned a spot on the Ignore List. See ya, troll. Now we just need people to stop quoting the troll as well.

Exactly. Beans must be management troll, or a Ford and Harrison employee.

Airline contracts aren't based on the size of the airline - that's why financial analysis is done by the unions so that a reasonable"ask" can be formulated.

I'm a lurker from another airline, Beans-troll, so don't plan on using this in your lawsuit: keep the pressure on Spirit pilots, don't pick up open time, get what you deserve.

I used to fly at a ULCC for some of the lowest wages in the industry. Fifteen years later, I now fly for an airline in the top 5 for pay.

The fact pertinent to the Spirit pilots is that I still work for the same company. I thank my union for working hard to improve our pay scales over several negotiations. I blame the company for dragging their feet to save money while ruining the work environment.

Hopefully the Spirit pilots will feel the same 10 years from now. The TRO is temporary, the Spirit management is feeling the heat, just a matter of continuing to apply just enough pressure.

I'm also not a Spirit pilot. So here's my stupid question: can pilots be junior assigned on an off day or is it purely voluntary? I ask this because one of the "news" articles reported you are "snubbing your nose at junior assignments on off days." And I'm well aware of the limitations of "journalist's" understanding of our contracts.
