Relief lines takes the left over trips and someone in crew planning tries to build you a line. That's far different than PBS. Where you pick and choose the parameter of all the available trips. I've worked with PBS for 8 years in the past and know what it can and can't do. They'll probably be some lines with a few reserve days mixed in (similar to our current relief lines) but that goes to the junior guys which is no different than the current line bidding.

Relief lines are mix because our rules allow that and if they don’t have trips left over they have to fill the set number of relief lines with something. Relief wouldn’t exist under pbs. You either get a line or you get rsv.

Does it mention in the pbs loa that a lineholder either can or cannot have rsv days on their line?

When I asked about this at the road show, they weren't sure whether PBS would allow reserves and flying. They allowed it at my last company with PBS, I don't see why we can't have it here if we want it.

Depends on the company and how it's set up on PBS. Every airline is different. The PBS I worked under before, we can have "hybrid line" which is similar to our relief lines, where you have a mix of trips and reserve. I don't know if this will be allowed with our upcoming PBS.

Agree. I asked at the roadshow as well and they said the company actually wanted to keep some relief lines when we went to pbs, who knows if they will or not.

Quoting myself:
32 Relief lines in my base. I got the 9th. I asked for 1 thing and 1 thing only, afternoon showtimes.
I got 3 four-day trips, each with early morning shows.
I got 3 reserve days, each with 3am availability.
Okay... I get that maybe, just maybe, by the time they got to the 9th Relief line there were no more afternoon trips. But 3am reserve? Reserves can be created out of thin air, and they chose the earliest possible slot.
Not looking forward to PBS one bit.

Also I like how you quoted your own wildly misinformed post with another misinformed post. Idiot......

1)That's not how PBS works. A person doesn't select what you get, the computer does and a person making your relief line doesn't have to honor your request if it's available but the computer does.
2)The best part about working for spirit is you can leave at anytime.

2) I've said in the past that the reason I'm so vocal is because I *Don't* want to leave Spirit. Despite my internet rantings, I actually enjoy working here. Even if I didn't I'm kind of in a "Golden Handcuffs" position.
3) As for being mis-informed, well, I probably am, but I've never worked under PBS before. I'm just saying that signs aren't pointing in a positive direction.
What's the phrase that beat down underlings use when they know it's going to suck but aren't allowed to say so? "Cautiously Optimistic." That's what I am about PBS. Cautiously Optimistic.
Let's hope I'm wrong.

1) Maybe they aren't required to honor it. But it shows a lot about what they think about us if they choose not to.
