I’m sure they just tell us “we have plenty on applications on file”

I don’t think new hire pay will help retain anyone. Seems like we are filling classes but no one’s hanging around.

hope they have a better plan than visas

Here is a question that does not get asked. What is the current capacity of training for upgrades and new hires after accounting for recurrent? What does hiring and attrition matter if training capacity is full.

According to director of training, GM on last quarter’s flight ops town hall, it was “96 oe events per month”. He was hoping to increase to I believe 110. Although he didn’t sound resolute in his tone, in my opinion.

61 was accurate, some of the late January resignations won't be counted until February when they officially leave and walk out the Spirit Door.

oh I’m definitely gonna keep cheerleading. For
no other reason it agitates guys like you. In a job that happiness can be fleeting it really irks guys like you that guys like me really enjoy this job and are happy. People leaving are so enlightened and people staying ‘just don’t get it ‘ … ya ya ya I get it . We are just suckers .. but happy suckers and that works for me .. now I’m gonna go enjoy my day , one of 16 off in a row, and perhaps spend some of that $31,000 I made last month .. you best go get on airline apps .. enjoy your day and that 787 poster over the toilet.

one more quote .. you die your way I’ll die mine —Gordon Gecko

These are the people who quit in January. The higher numbers are accurate as those were "resignation" numbers, but won't be counted until they officially leave. Example, a pilot who puts a 2 week notice in on January 25th, the Union will know about it and will the company, but he won't officially be counted until the day he actually leaves.

So currently OE is the choke point? The company gets to hold back 5% of the schedule plus 3% for OE?

CP note says 90 a month for new hires. Must be getting really close to the maximum. And that is with 24 new aircraft this year. Interesting to see how that works with 33 next year.

The perception the grass is Greener elsewhere is human nature. Maybe it is maybe it’s not. But I see the schedules some

But to suggest this place is massively inferior because it’s perceived the bigger guys are so much better is a purely a personal view. The view from where I sit I couldn’t be happier. More Money will be nice and pretty sure that’s gonna happen. Be careful what you wish for.. you may get it .

and since I’m throwing out quotes, I think Robert frost Said something like: a road diverged in the woods and I took the path less traveled by, and
that has made all the difference.

We are past the early days of southwest in the spirit life cycle. That’s why it’s “mostly” relatively junior leaving. Sure if you were hired at spirit ten years ago or prior then the analogy works. After that seniority movement alone here doesn’t make sense for the newer guys. Obviously many other factors may influence a move by someone but the seniority (with some assumptions in the industry) is just math.

Why any pilot would waste their time on a company wide town hall is beyond me. These only exist because someone in HR has a study that they help with employee engagement and culture. These are things for people too dumb to understand that they come to work for a paycheck first. I couldn’t give two poops about any culture building and that’s why I don’t waste my valuable time on these. Nothing of substance will be said on this call. Zero. Come in, transfer as much money from spirits bank account to my own, and get as much time off as possible while doing it.
