[QUOTE=FlyGuy2002;3426817]If you think they are going to take 200 airplanes and most of them out of BOS/JFK on top of their current operations you’re nuts. They already said they would divest the spirit operations up there to get regulatory approval. Did you look at their map of hubs and focus cities from their presentation?

That's why the vacancy bid has spots in ORD DTW and DFW even though theoretically soon those will get chopped. They have to. That's why.

I can't remember the last time I flew a flight out of base that wasn't full. And fo open time list is longer than the Iliad right now.

The citation?
How about this: we have roughly 200-220 captains in DTW, DFW, ORD and LAS.
3 of those have under 20 daily departures, one has over 40. Makes total sense to be the same size right?
Beyond that, from a pairing build perspective, DFW doesn't even need to exist.

not sure you saw what I was getting at. No way can or will they take our planes and put them in the already jammed packed northeast. 200 airplanes will have to be dispersed. There is no doubt they have dabbled here and there in medium cities and cities in Midwest and west. Dabbled being the key word. B6 has largely stuck with their bread and butter since their inception. JetBlue does extremely well in 3 market segments. JetBlue is an extremely popular snow-bird shuttle (anywhere in northeast to Florida). That’s a lucrative market that I’d argue they probably do Better than anyone. B6 also does the Caribbean very well and has strong presence on all the islands. Lastly the mint, higher cost higher service coast to coast has been a smash hit for them.
now having said that, it rings hollow to me that they now suddenly are enthralled with expansion into new markets Midwest, west , and otherwise. I think they never saw value in places like Des Moines, Myrtle beach, Latrobe, St. Louis, Indianapolis. NK and F9 has seen value in going into places like that. But now suddenly they do? All the big markets have been there all along as well for them to go full pressure. Think large metros like ATL, PHX, IAH, SEA, ORD etc. of course they fly there but have they really tried to scale up large in those cities ? I’d argue no. This is simply a play to box out a potential large competitor in all those markets and others all under the guise that this seemingly last minute effort is best for our shareholders stakeholders alike, that’s it’s all better for us. Sorry not buying it. It’s a defensive move. They see a threat and are fighting to block it. Had they seen value in expanding largely into new markets they would he done it. They largely haven’t. They strategically have stuck with their bread and butter. Live by the sword die by the sword. I’d be much happier if they play in their sandbox and we play in ours.

I don't think it's that. What would they care? They are all gone If it turns out to be JB and they still have an airline to run for the next few years. My Guess is they can't figure out how to do it with the % so they are either trying to figure that out, or figuring out how to just "Do it" and deal with the consequences after...
