I don't know why anyone talks politics at work. You're not going to change anyone's mind. I think you hear mostly republican viewpoints in the cockpit because republics are the most outspoken. I think most democrats stay quiet because the other guy is just going to go off about how you're a socialist while parroting everything Fox News says.

I for one don't know why anyone in this country prescribes to a party. IMO it's the main problem with American politics. I also think pilots are perfect candidates to be independent. They are usually higher income earners for low taxes but also prounion. How any one of us can in good conscious prescribe to one or the other political parties when both directly contradict your goals in at least one major way.

But hey, it's easier to talk about "this administration" and how they've pushed the country beyond repair.

 

Democrat: Take as much of your money as possible, redistribute it through welfare and entitlement programs. Pretend to be the friends of the "middle class" while refusing to investigate and prosecute the masterminds behind the financial collapse. They'll take your firearms, too. They know what's best for you, after all.

Republican: Take as much of your money as possible, give it to Israel and big government contractors to feed perpetual war in the Middle East. Spread fear of everything through the media. Contractors get rich. You can keep your firearms, they have bigger ones.

 

Should be worth more when you're flying around an A320 with 191 SOB (PHX Redeye the other night). Granted not all of those we're paying pax, but we are still responsible for them.

 

I think that comes from more senior guys who "know this mgmt".

I don't think they see the labor hurting they are going to feel if they don't at least get into the same zip code as the legacies payscales. This time is very different and we need to understand that going into it.

 

Let's just say it's a given that bendo, baldo et al and co probably contribute to the Republican Party.

 

And then there's Rand Paul.

 

Ain't nothing wrong with contributing to the Republican Party, I count myself as a Republican, but I'm not going to try and sway anyone to my way of thinking. Politics should be kept out of the cockpit and unions ARE a necessary evil. There. Now more important stuff, 2% raise is ridiculous, no one can honestly be happy with that. I just finished that survey, it was a little awkwardly written, but I think, the negotiators will get the idea of what we want.

 

Are you really expecting a legacy type contract from a company that refuses to hire minimum wage employees to answer the phones?

 

Come on, what's with all this 2%, protracted bargaining stuff?

 

Do you think United pays the people over in India to answer the phones any higher ?
