It all makes for great headlines and for people to complain about fees on an airline they probably actually haven't flown on.
Profits don't lie, people may not like the experience of flying Spirit, but it's a proven fact, they love the ticket prices.

I wouldn't even go that far. They may dislike the "fees", but the total cost is less. I will also say after working the past 6.5 years under the umbrella of a Legacy, I was EXTREMELY SURPRISED, in a good way (the whole experience) with Spirit. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the Gate agents were nice, plane was clean, F/As were actually friendly and the boarding process was 10x smoother than what I am used to , where you have every person thinking they are the only passenger and spend 15 minutes standing in the aisle putting their bags in the overhead bin.

You must have a restriction on your medical that says "must posess and wear coke bottles at all times"
. Our planes don't get cleaned that often. On the other hand, the FAs are mostly awesome, and I do like that we can load or unload a 321 in about 12 minutes. When people don't bring on a dead moose and a mattress, boarding goes rather quickly. Welcome aboard!

I dunno- the last few I've been on in the back were pretty clean. I think the "thru flights" get the brunt of the nastiness; those that stop at a station for a few minutes seem to get a little more attention. That- and Latin America

1/2 price? I just took 2 minutes and looked up a OW in March from FLL-LGA and saw Spirit at $108. Travelocity shows Delta, JetBlue, Airtran, and USAir all between $102 and $110. It seems that most haven't figured out the total cost.

-About 60 FO's
-It's a big airport, I'm sure it's commutable, where would you be flying in from? Check (passrider.com)
-Senior CA, top 15-20 Senior FO's, the rest mid and junior people.
-Type of flying is mixed, but I don't think they do any central and South America stuff, except a they flight to CUN.
As a reference, DFW and ACY are the initial destination for new hires, but they move out as quick as people upgrade and new vacancies come out.

Searching old threads it looks like DTW was closed or threatened to be closed down. Does it seem stable as of today?

FLL-ATL us 73.90 Delta next with 126.90
FLL-BWI us 53.90 Tranny next with 68.90
... and that is typical.
If Delta is matching or beating our price, I guarantee you, they are taking a loss. We are tiny. We can't get into a war with Delta. This is nothing new. May be next for sale are the LGA slots. They are worth a ton of money, and we can use that money for expansion. We pulled out of DCA, sold the slots to SW, went to BWI. Sounds good to me.

I don't think there's anything stable about our base structure. The immediate bet is DFW will grow. Outside of that, I don't think any base is 'stable', others may have a different opinion.

Ben Baldanza was just on CNBC, explaining Spirit's last qtr, his optimism for Spirit going forward and ancillary fees.
I like his optimism and the way he explained the ancillary fees.
I'm not as confident in his response to the AA-US Air merger though, but it does look like he sees clear skies in front of Spirit, which is good.
