Hopefully indeed on bookmarks. At the last gig we had comply and the best we could do is screenshot the bookmarks just before an update to use as a guide to go back and redo them. They claimed then it was being worked on, but the bookmark was based on the page number, not the section or paragraph, which likely changes in a revision.

Tired of hearing about 2.5 year upgrades being some sort of liability. Most spirit pilots have years of 121 experience and many of them have thousands of hours of PIC time. Out pilots actually have the advantage of getting 2.5 years of time in type before upgrade whereas many airlines fos upgrade into a new type with zero time.
Agreed. Also we need to stop spreading the 2.5 year upgrade talk, that is ending. Anyone hired in the last 12 months won't see a 2.5 year upgrade. For guys getting on now they are looking at 5-6 years unless we see some attrition or a somehow take additional airplanes prior to 2021.
...Or we order more airplanes. Something tells me our management will not want to stop the growth in 2021, assuming the economy doesn't take a massive, three coil sh!t before then.

Our current upgrade time is not a liability and I apologize if my post alluded to that...the above scenario happens with 15-year upgrades as well. My statement was more focused on the frequency of how many of these cases pop up, which will obviously increase with quicker (read: more) upgrades. There were years in the last decade where we had 8-12 upgrades a year- not month- and a couple of these cases popped up...but not with near the frequency because there were simply so few new captains every year.
I think most of our new captains do an outstanding job of preparing for and transitioning to their new role, especially considering our sometimes challenging environments and minimal support. But let's be honest: our current training/checking curriculum does little to evaluate a pilot's judgment and decision-making and focuses instead on only minimal tasks per 121.441. Yes, AQP will help but that's still years away. I've had numerous conversations with FOs about "nightmare" captains and the wacky stuff they pulled; when I asked if they considered calling Pro Standards they looked at me with a blank stare. If we won't police our own who will?
