They sent some emails. I don't have it though. It's actually the most expensive tie you've ever bought

When you log into ALPA site, just search ALPA Ties. It will bring you to the page where it tells you who to email it to get your free tie.

There's an ad for them on pg 11 of the latest Mustache Monthly. Or just look on the website.

Personally, I wish I'd gotten the red one. It looked kinda tacky in the small picture, but when I saw someone wearing it, I thought it was pretty sharp.

Yes, its true. You're going to do a bunch of training on a Microsoft FTD (granted its a better because you've got 4 large flat screens which are basically ipads, no visuals) and you'll run through some systems and profiles in those. Then you'll do your oral with an APD, then transition to the sim and do 4 sessions. If you're lucky you'll get 3 V1 cuts. (I got 2). you'll switch seats with your partner but you do zero flying from the right seat until the very end. There just isn't any time to repeat much stuff. You've got to be 100% every day because your checkride is day 5. Don't know the latest stats but there were many pinks when we went through. Not saying its the instructors fault because I think 99% of them do a great job. It's just set up that way. Maybe Euro has a master plan to keep people stuck here by giving them a pink slip.
After you pass your ride you'll do one CAT3 and a V1 cut from the right seat and you're off to OE. Good luck at 4 am. If I knew then what I know now, I'd never risk my record on a midnight sim slot.

They won't change the process because it's cheaper to retrain a few pinks than to give everyone more sims. They also have the added advantage that you likely won't be able to leave if you have a bust on your record. It also puts you in a tough situation at an interview because you'll have to take responsibility for something that wasn't your fault and completely by design from an incompetent management. How do you say that without bashing spirit?

I'm no Chuck Yeager, and perhaps I'm in the minority, but I don't think any extra sims would have helped me at all. My check ride was the best in my career, and I definitely saw more than 3 V1 cuts before the type. Unless they changed the sim lessons, day 3 was single engine stuff (lots of V1 cuts), and day 4 is a mock ride (more practice with cuts). I guess I peaked at the right time.....

Not sure but if it is, it's because we are forced to higher lower quality applicants.

The training may not be thorough, but it's not hard.

I must have been real lucky, 'cause I got at least 10.
