I get if you're a captain at a regional with some sort of "if all the boxes checked" type of "flow", guaranteed blah blah blah, but to GO TO A REGIONAL FO AT THE BOTTOM......
Or come to spirit...

Wow...
Not insane if you want to play for the major leagues someday. Thanks to our industry wide reputation having Spirit Airlines on your resume is like having Syphilis in your medical records,... it doesn't look good and it's uncomfortable to talk about. A young aspiring pilot would be better off getting on at the regional of their choice and taking the 40k signing bonus than coming here. Has it gotten so bad that we need to persuade pilots that don't even have regional experience to come work here? Wow...

A 2nd year fo at bendover makes what? 34.00/hr?

.

Hate to break it to you but right now regionals can offer more then spirit does right now. I could go make over 60k first year at almost any of the regionals. upgrade in less then 24months at almost any regional and be making as much as your 2-4 year FO's make, Even more so if i was hired as a direct entry captain somewhere.

I would love to come fly the Bus and have a DFW base but im not going to do it for peanuts. At least pay what Virgin America, Jet Blue, etc pay.

Jetblue and virgin are also negotiating raises and fully expected to be on par with the big 4

Like you say, "right now" the regionals will offer more, but what if you start class, mainline decide to shift flying and that retention bonus is gone? Don't you find it interesting that regional will pay a "bonus" as opposed to rolling the higher pay into pay rates? I'm not saying Spirit is better but I don't like the idea of how regionals are offering a "bonus" as opposed to giving a higher pay rates.

Lots of "What if's". What if you and I had stayed at Pinnacle and done the SSP? We'd likely have made it to Delta at some point and never incurred the financial hardships of first year pay at Spirit.

You make the best decisions with the information at hand and it's certain that Spirit pays dirtbag wages. When that changes, nobody knows.

Bonuses aren't going anywhere until regionals are dead due to not being able to keep up with attrition. If I'm only going somewhere for two years I'd rather a hefty bonus anyway. It's not y'alls fault but the current spirit pay scales are laughable. Very sad that someone can make double flying a 50 seat airplane compared to someone flying a bus.
