I'm not in training finished OE last month. I just want to get off reserve as soon as possible and trying to decide bidding strategy for next months bases.

Does anyone know how many were awarded DTW/ORD in class recently? Also is the interview a straight TMAAT deal? I have to admit, sometimes all I feel like I remember about FARs is 250kias under 10k

We have idiot Captains here who continuue to insist on maintaining 200 kias out of FLL until 2500', like they're still flying a King Air or something, dragging flaps on a 321 to meet that restriction...

Pretty sure that's still a reg. Only difference is that an exception is printed on the FLL SIDs. Accelerate to 250 ASAP

Re-read the reg.

The 200 knot limitation isn't applicable if the aircraft minimum safety speed exceeds it.

In the case of the A320, that minimum safety speed is the green dot. And you can't get the green dot until you clean the aircraft up. And unless you're flying an empty A319, it's always above 200, therefore, the reg does not apply. And since ATC has no idea if you're flying 10 pax or 140 in the back of your A319, they expect you to go 250 knots.

Clean the ******* airplane up and fly it like a big boy.

Lowest DTW award was 37 off the bottom of the list. That means if you're senior in your class, you might get DTW almost immediately since there are usually 2 classes in the pipeline at once and you'll likely get 2 bids in during training, plus one more by the time you finish OE.

Read the aviationinterviews reports for more gouge on the interview. Mostly if you're qualified for the job, they just want to find out if you're a "fit" for the company. If you're overqualified they may assume you're gonna quit as soon as you get your legacy CJO. Not sure exactly what they're looking for in the interviews but it seems like they just want to make sure you're qualified, didn't lie on the apps, don't have any gross incompetence in your background, and that you're going to be a pleasant person to work with.

Considering that busting airspeeds on departures/arrivals is a real thing, that one rule probably a good one to remember...

I am one of those "idiot captains". I wonder, did we fly together? Do you bring up this issue when you see it or do you keep quiet and mumble under your breath about it on forums?

You might want to read this FAA interpretation...

Here is this good part...

"....the aircraft can in fact be CONFIGURED to operate in accordance with the speed restrictions...Therefore the pilot must operate the aircraft in the configuration to meet the requirements..."

Or said another way, if you can put flaps out to comply, then you must.

Or said yet another way, your minimum safe airspeed has nothing to do with you being CLEAN.

Now I get it, no one seems to give a F, and you have been doing it clean and accelerating past 200 for years. That's cool, do what you want, but don't disparage a pilot for following the regs. You are the one who is not in compliance.

Minimum safe speed in the Airbus is V2. The exception referenced is sup part (d) is there for delta wing aircraft with no flaps. like Concord or the SR. but with your extensive "experience" I suppose you already knew that.

I'm tired of these young punks disrespecting the senior Captains.

Shut your hole and learn your role.
