"Sustaining the airline..." Give me a break! He better not use words like that as excuses for our TA and our NC and MEC damn well better not send out a contract that can be described as such. Sustaining the airline is obviously important to everyone but we can have a truly industry LEADING contract and not affect the sustainability of this airline. Don't sell that snake oil here because we are not the FAs.

Quick reminder. Our track record is to sign any TA/LOA they put in front of us. They voted down TWO TA's so far. But then again, "we are not the FAs"

This fueling procedure had nothing to do with safety and was crammed down our throats because of a dick measuring contest between the FAA and the Company. Any other real airline would have immediately allotted financial resources and competent administrative personnel to immediately re-write the fueling manual and prevent this bull**** procedure from being implemented in the first place as it causes delays. I think the procedure has finally been changed because it was being ignored by so many pilots and fuelers and was impossible to enforce. To all the pilots and ground personnel that ignored the procedure I salute you as you have probably made all of our lives much easier.
If the previous Mec chair had balls, he would have told the pilot group to submit an ASAP report every time the fueling procedure was violated. Also if he had balls, he would have said to make sure he would have told the crews to take care of their physiological needs and then refuel. But instead we put up with this b.s. for a long time. That's what happens when you have an Mec chair trying to get a management position.

Which is why the the MEC better not pass a TA to us that can be described that way. If we do hear these types of phrases after one is released it should serve as a warning to run far far away.

My guess is the FAs have been worn down to the point of exhaustion and a small signing bonus will tip the scales. We will see.

What to do when it's presented an passes by 51%, you gonna tell the world (on APC) to go f themselves...the go fly your 4 day trip? We are minority and that's that. We have so many under paid that any pay raise would be hypnotizing enough to overlook the Trojan horse.

If a substandard contract passes and I still work here which is likely then that's something I guess I'll have to live with. It'll be sad to be the Mesa of Airbus pilots but someone's gotta be the anchor bringing everyone else down. I just never will hope or vote for it to be us.

Is spirit hiring pilots in their 50's? I've heard that many of the older folks do not get the call. I'm not talking about pilots that have been a captain at a regional for 15 years but those that are starting a second career with respectable experience that have 8 to 10 years of flying before they time out.

Absolutely they do. I'd venture to say they prefer someone on their 50s. (Less likely they'll bail to a legacy within a year or two of getting hired)
