Ill be the minority here but I they should and will ratify it. Its not amazing but from what Im seeing its an improvement. A 5th year FA is looking at a 50% raise in what they are making now and when they will be at year 10. Im not a mathematician but 50% over 5 years is avg 10% raise a year from current pay. they get 150% for anything over 85 hours, and most all of em i know credit much higher than 85. They get full Deadhead pay which seem small gain but its big in my opinion. Never should you get paid less just because you are deadheading. They get double their 401k contribution from what they have now. From folks i know at other places 6% match is standard. they get more sick time balance max i believe too. The health insurance is what everyone is whining about. zero deductible is fantastic and also extremely rare. $250-$750 deductible is still extremely reasonable.. and hell if you sign up for the high deductible plan spirit will put $1750 in your hsa for them year one. with premiums of like $10 every pay periods. In my book that is still damn good insurance and a fair offer for both sides. Ill receive flak but Ive glanced over their entire TA and by and large think they should ratify it and move on.. Its not earth shattering amazing but its a decent, fair and worthy of passing.. It'll be interesting to hear all the hoopla in the next month… hopefully ours soon after! and after hearing what southwest is wanting.. my ask price keeps climbing and climbing !

Serious question: please define what leverage we have. I hope that you aren't referring to a release that simply won't happen.

We have the leverage to stop doing the jobs of others... I have. I've stopped coordinating for operations and ramp and spend more time sipping coffee...

I haven't looked at what SWA wants, but here is Delta's...

Our management actually did us a tremendous favor by not offering an industry standard contract in the fall. We'd be kicking ourselves so hard if they had and we signed off on it. I hope this drags on until southwest and Delta get theirs.

A release could happen just not soon.

Our leverage is that we are not easily replaceable unskilled labor like the flight attendants and it costs a lot more to hire and train one of us that leaves while also trying to recruit and train pilots already planned for the growth.

They will always have girls beating down the door to be flight attendants that then quit within a year after they figure out what it actually pays and what the job is. No problem because they didn't lose money on that person and there is a new one waiting to take her place tomorrow.

They don't have that luxury with us and our leverage grows as time goes on. Also, if our negotiators do their job and not settle for something lack luster it would be pretty hard for the national mediation board not side with us eventually if the company is just simply not willing to meet our ask. The industry supports it and spirit can afford to pay it. They just don't want to until they have to. As long as guys aren't leaving, guys are showing up to class, we keep doing everyone's job, we keep covering uncovered trips on our days off, and the company has not yet had any pressure from the NMB to deal, then yes you're right our leverage is minimal.

We have control over 3/4 of those factors.

Their management was quoted in the article as saying "We are prepared to reach an industry-leading agreement; however, any agreement has to be sustainable and market-based." I'd say that's a start and much different than spirit talks. We they say sustainable to us the mean cheap not industry leading. When they say competitive they mean more money for the airline not competitive pilot compensation.

Delta negotiations have a mediator coming in next week. Why again aren't we filing for mediation?

Also it sounds like they are looking for another 3 year agreement which I think is smart. Why are we negotiating 5 year deals that turn into eight or ten?

Well as long as we are asking questions why does our union refuse to tell us what they are asking for? Delta and SW unions both made their offers known to the public. Why does ours have to be secret? I think I know the answer.

Because they are months away from discussing it I presume? They changed their ask after the UAL AIP (Supposedly) and all of that was "off the record" anyway. We are probably 8 months away from even discussing important stuff.

And from what I hear, Mr EUROTRASH Jyri just keeps saying no to everything for the sake of saying no

Delta Air Lines pilots want a 40% pay hike over the next three years. That’s not as crazy as it sounds, since the union says that raise would only bring their salaries back to 2004 levels

I suddenly think my survey answer of average DL/AA/UA pay was way too low.
Every month this drags on its going to be harder and harder to accept current UA pay and a 12% DC.
