Spirit of NKS, Part III

Where are the personal phone calls to each person on the standing available list gently reminding them of our need to hold the line while in negotiations? Where's the monthly updates form the union about real specifics. I just read a list of sections TA'd and still open and a peppering of generalities. (No I don't need to know everything or negotiate in public)

You got a full briefing on all items covered in December : none.
You wanted alpa to sponsor a group cardio session at corporate in front of a bunch of people that could care less, they did it. Heck, they even pulled off a semi black-ops mission and did a photo op at the airport - again, in front of a bunch of people that could care less. They even went to a shareholders' meeting. Unfortunately Southwest has bought up every billboard in Broward, so no billboard for you.
It is not smart, and some might say bad judgment to go against your lawyer's advise, especially when it goes against the policy of the guy paying the bills.

You guys worrying about Delta and United doing the low fare thing need to remember song and Ted. They failed. Not because the product was bad or on time suffered or anything. They failed because they took an expensive infrastructure and started selling tickets for less. They still have the expensive infrastructure and are only selling part of their tickets for less. Sure they may be filling seats, but it is still costing them more to do it than it costs us. Eventually they will see this and it will stop. They don't make money off this type of operation and it doesn't make long term sense. JMO

Song and Ted were separate airlines created within the legacy airline staffed with the same pilots and flight attendants from the same seniority list at the same payrates. Yes the cost structure was high, that's why it failed. The difference now is the legacies are using a class of seats on the airplane and they are charging for bags, food, preferred seating and boarding zones ect..,
Different than Song and Ted. As long as fuel is cheap and their international flying doesn't deteriorate, they will be fine and make their billions still. Our product is no longer as unique as you think it is.

I really don't think a great argument has been made for Spirit being taken over. If we could increase frequency and expand all across the country; then I could see a merger happening. With gas prices being low and the Legacy carriers doing just fine, think a merger at this time is more wishful thinking than anything else.

I recently was just show the rate tables released from the spirit MEC. They seemed low to me considering the environment we are in. I was just wondering what the rank in file thought of the rates proposed by the union. Are you guys satisfied with them?

You mean the proposal from almost 2 years ago? Forget it. Standards have gone up.
