I don't think it'll get you any points when they're reviewing your app but it'll give you something to talk about in an interview and will show, perhaps, a deeper than average interest in the dispatch/regulation process. It would be something you did that most other applicants have not. From your background, it might also be a good way to jumpstart your knowledge of the part 121 world after your military career.

Is that worth your time and effort?

If you haven't already, take a look at How To Land A Top Paying Airline Job by Rick Hogan. It's $10 on Kindle. It's pretty good at teaching how to turn your experiences into great answers for the "tell me about a time" interview questions. Reading it sooner, rather than later, will help in making decisions such as this as you'll have a better idea of how it can help you in the hiring process.

For example, "Tell me about one of your weaknesses". You could talk about how you felt that your lack of civilian experience felt like a weakness as compared to other pilots with civilian backgrounds so you sought out ways to learn more about part 121 operations including earning your dispatcher certification and include an example or two of the types of things you learned.

Default Time Out.

Is it not true that the training center is completely maxed out through March due to various, mostly stupid, avoidable mistakes? And, perhaps, this pause in hiring is due only to that?
Is it possible that if the new team is only just marginally competent they are still unwinding YEARS of unfathomable stupidity, arrogance, greed, narcissism and utter incompetence? Think F/A integration to name only one.
We need to be hiring. We will at some point; so relax everyone. Many of us have seen true stagnation before and this is just a tap of the brake.

Cheers.

Less than 300 added to the list this year.

Don’t worry, according to the experts here, more efficient crew utilization and running us like a regional airline using reserves as a staffing solution will fix it

Don't know if you read the UAL forum at all but this morning there is a guy asking how to pick up a trip during his vacation week........We are utilizing OURSELVES more, and the company is re-evaluating their hiring needs based on the fact that we want to fly ourselves to death to make back all the money we lost over the last 17 years, pay for college, buy a new house, buy new toys and get back the lost pension money etc.

Our reserves are flying 50-60 hours a month during the slow time of the year. We are at bare bones right now if we don't get 200+ new bodies on line by summer we are screwed.......but no worries we will all gladly drop to 10 days off a month for all of that Senior manning pay and brag about how big our pay checks are., then ***** about how we are not hiring and shrinking because we continually miss our hiring projections.

Hiring is not rocket science. Mostly I'd say the current snafu is due to not getting those 30 used aribi. The training center maxed out? Not on the bottom end. Maybe widebody. Guppy land? No.

Hiring to cover retirements? Well, flying us to death won't work in the summer. I see an epic meltdown on the horizon, oh about late spring...

Then they will have to work even more over time to pay for the divorce alimony and child support.
