There is pretty much everything on the table as far as domiciles are concerned but equipment slots match class size. The bottom guys don’t have a choice and have to take what equipment is left but usually have many (for 320/737) or some (756/777/787) domicile options
I see, that makes sense on the bases vs equipment - which makes it all that much more interesting that the 787 is the turd in the bunch bowl. Presumably, largely because of the current reserve rules, so it will be interesting to see if that changes in the future.

When did your buddy interview? HR tells you to email them if it's been more than a week. Did they do that or did they wait over a week before getting the email?

In the recent past, if the bottom guys didn't like the choices during the pre-lunch dry run, they could talk to the instructors teaching indoc and get the class drop altered so that there would be equipment available to them that they desired.
They did this for my redoc (when one's been out for a long time, they would send you back through indoc) class and the classes before and after us. Granted, that's been a while, but I am surprised that they'd force someone into the 787. With so many newhires every week, there should be some flexibility on drop composition.

It’s not that the reserve rules are bad, global reserve is what it is and quite frankly is a necessity on a “global” fleet. I’m talking solely about global reserve here, yes our reserve rules could be better, that’s a whole other forum for sure. It’s just that you will be on reserve for YEEAAARRRSSS on a 78/77 as a new hire. Some are okay with it, but as a new hire, probably not so desirable.

I don’t know this for a fact, but I assume there are some training capacity issues at play. 60+ new hires a week plus upgrades, recurrent training, etc. puts a significant strain on NB sim scheduling. They may need some of these guys to go WB just to spread the training burden across all our sims.

Having said that, we are not yet (to my knowledge) renting any off location sims- so there are options to expand capacity; but I’m sure they’d rather keep the fleet assignments at a mix that they can handle at TK.

I doubt putting 2-3 new hires, out of 60+, on WB would alleviate any strain on the NB side.
