737 has a little bit of everything, thought it’s weighted to 4 day trips. Seniority progression is F-A-S-T, and being local, I was doing either what I wanted or when I wanted by the time I was about 65% in base, or maybe 12-18 months. My preferred method was Hawaii and Florida in the winter and cool places in the NE in the summer. Plus, you’d get to fly with me, and after seeing the influencer stuff going on in the haircut thread, you could get in on the ground floor of my new influencing gig.

Driving to work is great, driving to work in a junior base (if you can stomach the locale) is king. Where would you be living?
737 sounds like more of the way to go then if I can snag it. About how many days off does a line at 65% have then if you can just about get whatever you want at that point? I’m coming from 4 on 2 off and 11 day off months so anything is better than that, I’m just curious.

Don’t know where we’ll be living yet because we’re going to make that decision when I get my base assignment. Prefer Southern California but am willing to live anywhere nice within 2.5 hours of LAX or SFO and am open to any and all suggestions.

Lol please don’t make me take pics of your hair

LAX 737 is slightly larger than SFO according to the most recent vacancy

LAX is on a growth trip - bigger than SFO - for now. 737 is the way to go hands down.

There is small like Cleveland and Guam, but LAX is not that. If you’re going to live in Southern California, even though SFO is a short commute, LAX would be a no-brainer. The seniority difference at the bottom is pretty small. CA bases all around are much less senior than the interior bases.

So read through the forums here just to get my United Airlines knowledge up. I think this is the right forum to post this and just wanted to make sure I've reviewed everything correctly?

I live in Atlanta and would want to be based out of Chicago since I have family there. I'd start out commuting and then eventually move to Chicago. For myself, if I commuted from Atlanta bc of seniority I might have to leave the day before. That would not be a big deal for me since I can stay with family in Chicago. I'd want to fly narrow-body so 737's are a good choice for that and while it changes all the time right now the 737's have better trips than the A320. Also from reviewing this forum getting Chicago does not seem to be difficult.

My logic check? Thanks in advance.

I think you could hold ORD in 0-6 months, probably less than 6. Commuting from ATL should be pretty smooth, even day-of. United and Delta have flights there, perhaps others. I’m a double commuter through Atlanta sometimes, just have to watch the southern weather patterns a bit.

I was hired in August, LAX 737. Spent a month on reserve and then got a line before transferring out. I’m showing ~65% in base for both SFO and LAX if I were to transfer back. Most new hires get put into the coastal bases and a lot transfer out as soon as they can, so there’s a lot of movement on the bottom of the base seniority list. We are all extremely lucky to be involved in this crazy amount of hiring/movement, and as long as the new hires continue to come through the door I would bet you should have a similar experience.

Define 'better trips'. I don't see much difference in the two fleets' trips.
