It really is amazing how many people will make excuses for the company like "but we're a global airline!". And then you bring up how AA and Delta can function without the ability to roll half of someone's days off in a month and they have no response...

Company is allowing unlimited upgrades in every hub > IAH exploded. They’re needing to backfill FO’s

Every plane is a 2-year seatlock unless you move to something that pays better.

I see makes sense from a company perspective. So I guess in some time they'll open up other stuff again after they backfill what they need ? Also what does "unlimited" refer to in this thread ? Ex SFO/ewr unlimited.

It means all available slots can go to that base. Often times they'll limit the number of newhires that can go to a base.

They cannot force CA upgrades but they can force new hire FOs into certain bases / equipment.

The company basically allowed people to upgrade wherever they want as NB and specifically 737 CA is the limiting factor right now.

They just force new hire FOs to wherever they are needed to balance things out.

We have a Covid LOA and seat lock time has changed. It's actually a 3 year seat lock if you stay in the same base. 2 years if you transfer to different base and no seat lock if go to a newly opened base within 6 months of its opening.

funny how things have changed… prior to the last few years pilots were thrilled to get a United spot regardless of where domiciled… now pilots complain when they get a WB FO spot and one year Captain upgrades.

Yep. I have to laugh at all of these posts asking about QOL in a particular base or "when can I hold a WB line", or "I have multiple CJOs", etc. Damn, us old dinosaurs where thrilled to get a job offer from ANY legacy carrier flying narrow bodies out of BFE back in the day! I'm glad things have turned around but I also hope that everyone is in their happy place when the music stops because, rest assured, it will.

What i meant in my post is the company will set the bids up such that anyone who bids 737 captain in a hub will get it.

In reference to new hire drops, you could have 10 positions with 5 in DEN and 5 in EWR or you could have 10 with 2 in DEN and unlimited (ie everyone) in EWR
