In reference to new hire drops, you could have 10 positions with 5 in DEN and 5 in EWR or you could have 10 with 2 in DEN and unlimited (ie everyone) in EWR
so basically from this post from before for ex. "20x A320 (DEN max of 2; DCA max of 16; LAX max of 13; EWR/IAH/ORD/SFO unlimited)" theoretially it could have been all 20 in SFO if the whole class picked that?

in the end since im coming from a a320 would clearly like to get back into a 320 so thats what im gunning for

Correct. Everyone could pick SFO airbus.

While the airbus is a great airplane, the trips suck. ESPECIALLY out of SFO. Enjoy doing red eyes and hub turns out of ORD with prime layover destinations such as BUF or SYR. Not sure who is doing the west coast flying but it’s definitely not that airplane/base. The fleet will also grow at a snails pace compared to the guppy, with the first batch of NEOs delayed until September now and the XLR is hasn’t been approved yet.

Default AS to United

The quick and dirty. Been at AS less than six months and United offered me an interview slot. Worth the jump as a commuter from the PNW for what United has to offer? Thanks.

Default West coast airbus and red eyes

Pardon the random and specific question from an older regional guy, but I’m wondering how prevalent the red eyes are if I bid and receive an A320 out of SFO or LAX. Thanks for any wisdom.

That depends on many things...

How old are you?
Why are you tied to the PNW?
Family situation?
Will you be able to move to a UAL base eventually?
Do you have experience commuting?

If you're young, signing up for 20+ years of commuting is not a trivial decision.

That language that was in the LOA, under permanent changes, is now in the contract.

most of the 4 days start with a redeye. 3 days not so much.

The airbus also isn’t being offered like it used to, and most likely won’t be until the NEOs start arriving. IAH is where most new hires go now.

SFO bus used to have about 225 CAs and FOs and now it’s down to like 115 / 85

I know someone who lived in SEA and were with AS for 4 years and left for a career commuter life for United, they felt that strongly about AS.

In the last year, I've met two different former AS pilots who jumped ship for United. Both had been there 4-5 years. Both said the best decision they ever made was to leave for United. QoL issues were the main reason they decided to leave and now enjoy a much better work-life balance here. TTFWIW.
