Only 7 in 2019, lax 320 is half the size it was 3 years ago. Nobody I fly with in la is optimistic about the base staying open.

Very comfortable acft to fly and sit in all day.

Grown up fleet...training center instructors and most LCAs are very cool and relaxed.

Mostly gentlemans flying hours w/o many all-nighters, although early wake-ups from the east coast can almost be worse for those on a CA body clock. Not many hub-to-hub legs. Good pairing have 2 legs/day, and more junior parings often have 3 (sometimes 4) legs/day...but it's not hard at all. Some of the most junior pairing have "double-duty" days where you fly a leg in the morning, get required crew rest during the day, then fly another leg at night.

Top 50ish% of LAX FOs seem comfortable staying put, so most recent movement has been from less senior folks who transfer to DEN, IAH, widebody, etc. Not sure of the exact math, but pretty sure the top 50% of FOs can now hold LAX 737 Capt seats (at least on reserve), and have so far chosen not to.

You need to be comfortable getting to LAX, BUR, SNA and ONT. The flying mix changes monthly & isn't very predictable. The good SNA pairings seem to go to the more senior FOs. The 737 also covers these bases, but has a much higher percentage of LAX flying.

Much more movement on the LAX 737, but I'm happy flying Fifi (live in-base).

I suspect the gossip of the base going away is just gossip.

It hasn't dropped below 40 degrees here all winter.

Check out the bid packets between the LAX 737 and the LAX A320. Night and day difference in the quality and destinations with the 737 the clear winner. Airplane sucks compared to creature comforts on the A320 but destinations and variety can't compare. You'll gain way more seniority in a much shorter time on the FLUF as well.

I have a couple of questions if someone can answer please.

What is the likelihood and time frame to lateral from EWR / SFO / LAX to DCA?

EWR 756 do you cover LGA and EWR
How easy is it to pick up extra time?

Same questions EWR 737

Thank you.

What about SFO for a commuter, what would be the best aircraft to shoot for?

What are the trips and overnights like out of SFO for a Junior guy on the different airframes?

Rather than have people post every permutation of options without knowing what you could potentially hold, I recommend you go look at the Bid Packages and the past monthly Awards. You can see what people in your seniority on each fleet got for that month. And this way you can make your own assessment based on looking at the facts.

1) it’s a message board, there’s no harm in asking....

2) if he’s new and awaiting a class he probably doesn’t have access to bid packages.

Let’s let the message board do what it was intended to do, allow open communication.

Exactly. Somebody who is new and asking for info so they can choose a fleet can’t possibly look at the bid packages.
