I am sure many others that aren't at my finger tips.
Dozens, if not over 100, who just weren't big enough to count as a major.
Nothing is a "sure,secure thing"
Not even UAL or SWA.

There's a banana nobody seems to remember. Kudos.

I'll give ShyGuy the EWR closure, but he's packed up his family and moved to Euroland, living in a Scandanavian country while commuting to Iceland to fly for Wow Air. I suppose that's an easier commute than a transcon?

I don’t know who lives in Scandinavia and flies for Wow Air out of Iceland but it isn’t me.
As for the OP, you are single, no wife, no kids? You’d be nuts to leave UAL. If you’re single, go where the job takes you. Move to a United base, a large one. People I know commute do so almost exclusively because of their wife, kids, or both. Eg, wife job, kids schools, etc.

All of those base closures still had domiciles less than 2200 NM away. Even HNL-SFO and ANC-SEA.

Thanks for all of the wonderful perspective, guys!
In response to some of the posts and to clarify some things: I'm single and don't have any kids yet, so commuting and time away from home at this moment isn't much of an issue.
I just turned 27 in May, so having a good 38 years left in the career under current rules is also something I'm factoring into my decision making. Would't lose too much on longevity if I make the move now.
I am 5'8" and at the moment fly the 737 our of EWR, so as long as I preserve my hearing I hope to be okay. Haha
As far as flying the 737 for the rest of my career, I don't think I'd mind it.
I really appreciate everyone's advice thus far.

That means you got on at 25!? Maybe even 24....?! Congrats on that....intern?
Have you looked at what your projected seniority will be with United when you retire? I’m guessing sub 20 for multiple years. You’ll never have the career potential at swa that being hired that young at UAL offers. I’d tell you to go to swa, but you leaving doesn’t move me up a number.

My story-
Got hired at HP in the very early 90s. Liked the company, but got tired of commuting and our relatively poor QOL. Jumped to DL in 2000 just in time for a 4 1/2 year furlough while my buddies who stayed at HP became US then AA pilots without lifting a finger. The guy 1 number junior to me at HP is now top 20% at AA. I just broke 60% at DL.
You never know.
