Anyone care to post a trip report from the job fair? Any good info for the masses who didn't rate an invite?

- pool is very low.
-new classes announced and they aren’t already filled by pool.
- update app within every 6 months.
- medical and passport updated
- upgrade around 5 years.
- fill out addendum and be sure it’s 100% correct especially regarding check rides , dui etc.
- looking for well rounded individuals from what I could tell, people that are involved in the company besides flying.
- GPA > 3.0
- no points deducted for check ride busts but be truthful.
- big order book
- big vacancies currently SFO / EWR likely on 737/320 and maybe 756 SFO

Did they say anything about the number of furloughed pilots still on that list? First of this year the statement was, “less than 250”. I know some number have come back. If memory serves, their time runs out sometime in 2019.

- GPA > 3.0
Is that a hard number filtered by the computer algorithm? An engineering or physics 2.9 is different than a basketweaving degree with a 3.9

They mentioned that furlough pilots have till November 2019 to return to property. I don’t recall a particular number of pilots being mentioned.

Pretty sure the slide said it was preferred.

It is different...for an engineer.

In addition, the “drop dead” date for recall is 10-year from date of furlough. Thus, the remaining furloughed pilots will be timing out monthly between now and November 2019.

Considering that pilots furloughed in 2009 can now hold narrowbody CA, it seems likely that those that really want to return have mostly already returned.

Squallrider 09-21-2018 05:00 AM

I think they mentioned there’s a few per class and then beyond that the commitments they have to commutair etc which Idk what the percentages are.

At the fair they kept emphasizing you were invited and” if you’re successful today “, I took that to mean that people were actively being selected that day for interview...thoughts?

I'm not sure about that. Do you know how hard basketweaving is if you don't have an artistic bone in you?

Yeah I got the same impression. If you did well that day you would move on to the next phase, which is the Hogan Assessment, then after a week you should hear something about scheduling an interview. Then a week after your interview you would be contacted to let you know the outcome. I’ve got my fingers crossed! Hope everyone did well

I can't believe we still use the Hogan alone to filter people out. Ridiculous.

Yea unfortunately nothing that can be done about it. If I am lucky enough to get that far I hope it’s not the thing that makes me wait 12 more months or longer

I hate to admit it, but I feel the same. You would think that by having us there that was enough. But we still have to go through all of the steps. I’m not complaining, just seems a bit overkill. They really want to make sure they are getting the best fit for the company.

Very true. My GPA during my ME studies was 2.5. The amount of effort put forth just to pass Partial Diff. was countless of hours. But I passed! To me, just passing Eng. courses was an accomplishment well deserved;-)

I had a great time and met a lot very qualified pilots at the event. I can see why everyone was invited -high caliber people. :)

I can’t believe we now need applicants to come to a pre interview to move on to the hogan in hopes of moving on to the full interview. THAT is ridiculous!

Edpilot23 09-21-2018 07:52 AM

Has anybody received a Hogan invite after the event??

I was kind of hoping we'd get 'partial credit' for the actual interview since we already did the 'pre interview'. Wishful thinking :D

Ha. I was hoping that this was just a mass interview, and we would all be done with it! Just get a CJO after the event.
Hogan’s should be coming in by Wednesday next week, for successful applicants that is.

I threw freight at a grocery store overnight and went to school during the day because I wasn't willing to bury myself in student loan debt. My GPA suffered because of it. It's sad that work ethic and fiscal responsibility have no bearing on whether or not you can get an interview.

Hats off to you. I wish I could've done the same. I just recently paid off my student loan a decade later. Yeah, when in school work ethic has a dual meaning.

I asked one of the pilots there why the event was taking place at all. If it was the natural progression from app review, to job fair meet and greet, then hogan, then interview, it makes sense. But since they are sending applicants direct to the Hogan then interview, why the extra hoop for us? If every applicant had to go through this, then it makes sense. But they do not. I didn't get a real answer. It was still awesome and I'm glad I got to go.

Things change. Be glad you aren’t forking out over a grand for sim prep. A sim check used to be part of the interview process as well.
Just a little perspective

Just a little perspective

To piggy back on Firsttimeflyer;

It says A LOT about one if you got picked to go. Especially when theres still know people with strong apps, been to job fairs, had a CP M&G, and been told by recruiters/app review service "app looks good, should be getting an email soon" and crickets.

But until you go through the CURRENT process of an HPI pass, THEN a 45-60 min of F2F/2 on 1/TMAAT session, well, perspective.......

Survey email just came out , basically just says they are reviewing apps from last couple of days and then people will hear, if you don’t hear immediately it says first quarter and possibly beyond

I sent one to the email address they had on the paper at the counter when leaving. I directed it to the entire Pilot Hiring Team, but I mentioned the First Officer that I interviewed with by name. So I hope they will forward her a copy.
