No, we have a revenue problem which is causing a cost problem because the company is built/manned for 9x current revenues.
They can't cut to profitability but they can reduce the bleeding a bit. There's nothing that can be done right now to increase revenue. Well, I suppose the company can do like other companies and start manufacturing face masks to make a few pennies?

We have a revenue problem. Right now our product is not wanted. We need to find a product that is and compete. Quitting until the problem might be solved for us (vaccine) is a terrible idea. It might not get solved. We need to learn how to survive in the current environment. If that means isolating each passenger, testing before flight, flying cargo only we need to figure it out. The first people who need to be furloughed now is upper MGT. why do we need them and their bloated salaries if the plan is to do nothing?
Can you sew masks? Those are in demand.
Edit: One thing we can do is cancel all contracts for outsourced flying and take it all back in house.

Just a quick reminder to those (myself included) facing furlough, your furlough pay is based on completed years of service/2 * current pay rate * MPG. Any cut to pay rates or MPG will affect what UAL will pay you when you’re forced to the street. As many have said, the company is going to furlough to what they need. I’m suspect of any furlough mitigation strategy proffered by the company based on past actions.

You want to reduce payroll? How about you pay $200,000 a year instead of $400,000 a year to WB CAs. Either way they are sitting at home not flying. If WB flyin is not supposed to come back and our entire 777 fleet is parked then buy those guys out.
they want to leave so let them go. Saving $200000 a year is more than the junior pilots make.

SCREW YOU. We have a contract. Honor it. Every effin day. Seniority has it's privileges, as it always has and has it always should. And I am NOT senior! The company could offer a more attractive early out, but they chose not to. And when you are a WB Captain and sitting on your rear due to no fault of your own, I will fight for your paycheck as well.
Can't believe this hasn't been ridiculed by now.
