Agreement In Principle

I mean feeling underpaid making 300k a year to work 12 days a month, given what most of the world experiences takes some good cognitive dissonance, but it’s not disgraceful… it’s the result of a strong union and great bargaining power. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Make hay while the sun shines ;-)

We don’t negotiate based on what the rest of the world experiences, we negotiate based on what we feel and prove we are worth. I for one believe we are worth more than the leaked rates would suggest we are. Feel free to settle for less though. My vote is a solid no unless the rest of the contract is not only an absolute home run but an absolute bomb out of the ballpark with bases loaded. (Which it won’t be…)

Legit question.
Been here since 2017 , I’ve heard and read multiple times we got ALPA surveyed for the purposes of a CBA in 2018 ? I saw no such thing , did I miss it ?
and the whole call you rep thing doesn’t come close to hearing the voices of a 14,000 pilot group . Needs to be more structured .
what did I miss ?

The rest of the world is more than welcome to get their medical, private, instrument, commercial, multi-engine, ATP, requisite hours, college degree, work experience, clean record, etc etc to get hired at a major airline and enjoy the benefits that those before them have fought and bargained for. I would argue that it has never in recent history been easier to do so.

It’s amazing that this website would be able to delete a post with the rates. I don’t blame them for being embarrassed and ashamed. They are insanely low and will absolutely destroy pattern bargaining. Our entire profession will be harmed irreparably. Almost all carriers have open contracts.
We can all only pray the United pilots soundly reject this deal. Or better yet, the UAL MEC rejects it.
