Meh. As an AA guy with a union and pilot group that doesn't seem interested in doing any industry lifting, I'm certainly in no position to throw stones at the United AIP. But I'm curious nonetheless because I'm sure we'll try real hard to ride your coattails and fall a bit short, just to have our pilots still vote it in by over 70%.

There are many more important things in a CBA other than pay rates. If the pay rates are a little less than expected, just maybe we made gains in other areas!!! The pay rate people need to stop being so myopic!!!

It sure would have been nice to see you Delta guys come in first if you're saying you would do better.

How can the union, in good faith, send us something like this. I can see why the company would push for it but for ALPA to approve it would be a disgrace.

We can all only pray the United pilots soundly reject this deal. Or better yet, the UAL MEC rejects it.
I agree 100%!

Last I heard, the MEC hasn’t voted to send us anything.

I’ll give you some math. Full disclosure: I’m not a UAL pilot. Just an observer that has a vested interest in pattern bargaining. I’ll use WB CA as an example.

Start at $352 for 2019 pay rate.
Factor in 15% pay raise. 5% from the negotiated LOA and an additional 10% for the CBA. Now we’re at $404.80.
The YoY inflation rate from May 2020 to May 2021 was a flat 5%. That puts you at $425.04.
May 2022 inflation isn’t out yet, but if it’s anything like March and April, it will be around 8%. That clears $459.

Of course, none of this takes into account the fullness of a contract and other QOL improvements that would take away from Section 3. Of course all of this is subjective blathering, but I don’t think it would be unreasonable by any means to ask for this pay rate if the number one focus of negotiations was compensation. Each voter will have to decide the cost of the other QOL “gets” in the TA.

Again, not at UA. But we’re in negotiations where I am, and that is roughly my logic. Arrows away!

I'm not solely about section 3; I need to see what the rest of the contract has. I'll accept a few less dollars per hour for a better QOL. Like no forced JMing.
Our “problem” if you will is how archaic our contract language is. It’s mind-blowing. Therefore, we are asking for a full rewrite of the contract which understandably takes time, although the Kompany has essentially stalled for the last two years in a very shameless and blatant manner.

Contract by the end of the summer?! Pfffft. Yeah, maybe end of summer 2023 or 2024. I’ve been to this rodeo before several times and know how the NMB timeline plays out. We’re not even close.

June 20th will find a thousand SWA pilots lining the entrance to Love Field with signs in hand. It’s a good start but UAL pilots in particular know that Summers of Love are more effective at making the Kompany see the light.

As for being constantly JMed……that’s a bit of a stretch. Hell, I wish I was JMed more often as 1.5X-2X pay is sweet and if I really don’t want to do it then you can bet that I won’t be flying the JM (or JA as we call it).

They haven't sent anything. It's a rumor so far.

Inflation calculator. 1 dollar in January 2020 is now 1.12.

Assuming free medical, better retirement, sick bank, pay per day for training/vacation, etc and if we get 5% dos plus 5% on January 1st 2023 and if we get an additional 5% for the LOA (no idea if we will get this) then we are keeping pace with inflation in Section 3 and are ahead and other areas.
