This is true. However, they will make it right for everyone already in the program. I don't think united would damage thier reputation by announcing aviate is closed and give everyone the boot.

If changes are made, it will be like the current one, where they can have people transition under the legacy requirements. They didn't force everyone to go with new changes.

Or, if they drop an airline or close the program, like they did with air Wisconsin, those already in the program are still able to transition. I'd imagine if they suddenly announce aviate is no more, people who were already in the program are still able to transition.

Most changes have been positive so far. Such as having to opt in and being in the program automatically, instead of doing a crappy interview where they'd give you the boot for whatever reason. I did the aviate interview, and in the first 5 min of the interview, the United Captain straight out accused me of lying about my pilot certificates. It was a very negative experience and left a bad taste in my mouth. The opt in is a huge plus.

As I stated above, if it's a big change, they will make it so that people who were following the old rules, could still follow the old rules.

It all depends on the transition.

Delta didn't make anything right for the DGI pilots at 9E who were waiting on class dates when Covid hit, because they didn't have to. There was no transition. By the time Covid was done, the flow was in place, and DGI just went away.

The ZW pilots will be fine. The Aviate transition there will be that ZW captains go at a fast enough rate to cripple ZW but at a slow enough rate that AA can't sue for inteference. But that's about killing ZW, not Aviate being fair.

The bottom line: non-contractual career incentives can go away at any time, fair or not fair.

This is a very nice, but wholly unrealistic view of United or any other airline. United will not care if they lengthen requirements, cancel the program, or any other adverse action that would negatively affect the career of a person enrolled in the program. They will kick you to the curb… and their reputation won’t suffer at all for it.

Not sure why anyone would even wait in Aviate to come to United. Everyone knows the fastest flow to United is Spirit, Frontier and JetBlue.

To my understanding, you need to upgrade to captain now no matter if you are following the new requirements or old (legacy) requirements right?

If so, why does the MyAviate app say you need either ONE of the following: PIC hours or Bachelors degree.

If I have a BA degree, do I still need to upgrade?

Why are you posting this question here, on an anonymous Internet forum, instead of United’s Aviate HR contact? If you’re actually in Aviate, go ask your mentor or email HR.

I’d say because since Aviate’s inception it’s been a hot mess communicating with anyone. Non answers to questions, etc. don’t know how many emails I’ve sent that were never answered or didn’t answer very clear questions. 2 years in everyone I know is still waiting on a “mentor”

Too funny. Your screen name sums up the whole Aviate program.

fair enough, good luck. Based on the success of the program communication structure I doubt anyone here will know anything that’s reliable
