I’ll take seniority for the JS over who happens to have the fastest fingers BS any day. Did you also notice all new A/C must have 2 JS? Did you notice that if you by a cheap seat you no longer need a backup flight? If you’re that worried buy a ticket and sleep well at night.

well in that case you wouldn't be losing your ride home because it wasn't your ride.

Nothing worse than losing your ride home because some uber senior guy boots you at the last minute when your other option already left.

I’m sure you’re one of those that can’t go a minute without their phone, but I n a line of work that presupposes multiple hours a day disconnected it’s nice that the fastest finger isn’t the policy. You see when you use a seniority system that guy that boots you did actually get there first. Stick around a minute and it’ll get better. Also never forget that commuting is a choice.

Would any of you happen to have a link to the TA summary you rejected last year? One with a pay table would be great.

That does suck for sure, how many times this year has that happened to you?

I disagree that the solution is an institutional abrogation of seniority, however. Any Captain worth a **** would tell the last minute dude to take a hike. Getting bumped at the last minute and having another option home are two different issues though.

I call BS on this! Some do not have a choice and have to commute. No one pilot living in base has the same cookie cutter life as the commuting pilot sitting next to him/her.

Of course it’s a choice, to say otherwise is preposterous. You don’t want to move in base that’s 100% a choice you made when taking the job knowing your lifestyle preferences. Millions of other jobs would expect you to move to where your job is located. Being able to ride for free to work is a perk not a demand the job places on you.
