Just received an online assessment today. Super excited about it.

Anyway to study /practice few scenarios before attempting it?
how much weight does it hold to get to the next phase of the selection process ?

FYI,

3900TT
2400 turbine
0 TPIC
FO at a ULCC
4 year degree non-aviation
Attended few hiring events in the past.
3 active internal LOR (all FO)

For the assessment, commonly called the "Hogan", the thing is to answer consistently. There's also this: you are going to see these questions: I want to be a scuba diver. I want to be a deep sea diver. I like fast cars. I want to be a race car driver. For scuba and fast cars you answer yes, for deep sea and race car you answer no. It shows that you're interested in cool/fun things, but not an over-the-top risk taker.

For the actual interview I used Emerald Coast for both American and United and got hired at both. Well worth the $400.

While the Hogan test used to be a jeopardy event for getting an interview, that is no longer the case. If you’re getting the assessment then an interview will follow. Your total score on the hogan will be part of your “total package” score (app, hogan, interview, etc).

The sure-fire way to drag down your hogan score is to answer how you think they want you to answer, or try to “build” an image of yourself through strategic answering. It’s a personality profile - Essentially, you will answer the same bank of questions types multiple times asked in a different way each time. Just answer each question truthfully each time and give them an accurate assessment of who you are.

Caveat to what I’m about to say. I took it when it was pass/fail, so it may have changed since then🤷‍♂️ I think the technique above could possibly lead you astray. I agree consistency counts, which is why I think you should answer honestly, and not try to answer the way you think the test wants you to answer. You’ll be asked the same question in slightly different ways multiple times. If you’re not honest, it would be easier to show inconsistency in your answers, which indicates you’re not being honest. I was given what I think was good advice. You will have a gut answer almost immediately when you read a question. That’s probably the one you should go with. If you start over thinking everything - “if I answer this way, they’ll think this…” your responses may be all over the map.

Also, there are (were) a few “I always” “I never” questions. Those are generally false, disagree. “I never break any rules” for instance.

If you can make it thru ULCC training and be a line pilot there you can do it at UAL.

Got it too. I didn't really try to study or practice for it. I just took it, but I have no idea how I did. Most of my answers were somewhere in the middle with a few hard outliers.

3700TT
1800TT
200 TPIC (SE Turboprop)
4 year degree non-aviation
Attended 3 hiring events in the past.
3 active internal LOR (all FO's)
