Yet.

The FAA is going to pick the airplane and manufacturing process apart.

TIL! Thanks man! It had always bothered me with the number registrations.

Maybe still coming for RyanAir. When UAL tells BA “yeah, just go ahead and stop work on those” that’s pretty clear cut they have a plan that does not include the -10 in the future fleet plans.

From one of the articles:

”Kirby emphasizes that the issues with Boeing extend beyond a short-term inconvenience, characterizing them as a two-decade-long concern rather than a mere 12-month problem.”

He said the quiet part out loud, and you know he’s not the only CEO thinking it. Start buying BA put options 😉.

I think you misunderstood what he said…. Kirby basically told Boeing to using near-term production slots building -10s and use them on -9s for the time being.

Once the aircraft is certified, then start building -10s again. United also will get some kickback from Boeing for those swaps I am sure…. But the -10 is still happening….

as it should. The -10 is incredibly efficient and will open United up to new routes at increased profitability. All pilots bashing Boeing and hoping the 737 program ends aren’t looking at their own best interests. I pray Boeing get its issues sorted out quickly, our furlough letters could depend on it.

I don't think it means we won't have any -10's in our fleet, IMO it's to publicly embarrass Boeing and keep their nuts in a vise to push them to fix their core issues, while ensuring they don't further screw up our delivery schedule by wasting production slots on planes that are going to collect dust for another year or four in leiu of planes we can fly right now. I think one of Boeing's main strategies to get the FAA to back off would be for their lobbiests to point at a few billion worth of Max 10's sitting on the ground with the exact same tech and safety features (bugs) as 8's and 9's flying all over the world, and hopefully this puts a stop to that. And hey if it means Boeing comes crawling back with an even better offer sheet all the better.

You don’t even work here 😂

Though you’re right, a success for Boeing is a success for the airline

Its also possible that the 2 month hiring pause (May June) is because the company is unsure whether those pilots hired should be trained in the 737 or Airbus. The MAX 10 deliveries for 2024 and 2025 are about the same number of A321s that Spirit and JB have deferred, so its possible that this gives United time to grab those deferrals and figure out which plane mix is coming in the next 2 years.

Also the pause in hiring announcement was before the decision to convert the MAX-10 to MAX-9s and keep deliveries coming. So who knows what will actually happen.

I bet we'd get all of Airbus's close in deferrals if it included an Airbus WB order with actual near-term delivery dates.

Yes, but those slots are not going to come cheap or easy. There’s a premium United will have to pay for those earlier A321 slots….. By all means, I don’t think United is the only carrier fighting for those slots either….. We shall see, A330s aren’t happening though lol. That rumor needs to die.

The right move in opinion is to use near term slots to keep being certified aircraft onto property and get some kickback on delays…..
