I'm a 99 hire coming off bypass for a December class. Haven't heard anything yet from Charlie Venema other than the Sept 10th deadline.

Not sure how many other "senior" furloughees will be joining me in this latest class offering but will post more info when I hear something.

I have sent my preferences to CV... from my discussions, seem to some fairly Senior folks will be in some of the classes... 99 hires, etc. Then, I guess it is Off-the-Street after the first of the year... I guess if they keep dragging their feet on the Contract... I will get to vote on 2nd contract in 6 or 7 years , former airline!

Ladies and gents... Just did the fam in kiah and this is my take.

They have been "approved" for 48/50 a month thru spring.
They are very short and very desperate...which is :
1. Why CV wasnt at fam bc he was in ord trying to figure out how to do the new hire program and 2 why they reoffered to the furloughees again...bc they cant staff the upcoming classes after mid nov.

They needed 95 ish spots and got only 33ish. To help, they WILL offer preferential interviews ( just make sure they dont have dwi's , arrests, etc) to people who had class dates or past the previous interview and were in class limbo status.) Will have some 75/76 drops after october.

With united rules, cal is currently 350 pilots short, with the new contract, it will be much more. So, to prepare for summer '13 they have to,train, train, train....
United is going to fly up to 2.5% less....dont know if this is decreased rj or mainline yet....we'll see soon enough.

The alpa guy was good, we basically agreed to disagree on many items. Everything cal does is to do what they think will increase their sli position.... Wanted to increase the $750 advance? No, bc that would decrease their sli arguement. Dont ask me why but the list goes on. Most just dont get it, the sli is already done using the three items in the alpa merger policy... Some cal pilots just dont get that. They want every possible advantage to help them.. Its really getting old. I wouldve retired 173/7746 ish at stand alone ual and just bc im furloughed, i,dont have career expectations? How can a cal pilot justify that? Smisek even said if we didnt merge, cal would simply GO AWAY...fact. And the union made a deal to not use smiseks words in the sli? What a croc.
If u think the jcba took time and has been a hard battle... The sli will be much worse, we will just be getting paid more.
Cal reserve sucks, but that will change shortly.

Enjoy...

Skippy, are you saying that there are 95ish spots for Nov/Dec and they have gotten 33ish to accept those spots? Does this mean guys in the pool have a shot at a Nov class date? Thanks

To anyone that was hired at United but never got to class and would like to work on the cal side get a hold of a United Pilot or if you can contact Charlie Venema.

They want to hire y'all first before off the street.

That is EXACTLY correct as briefed to us at fam in kiah on thurs.
They are desperate, very desperate, and well behind the staffing model. 48/ month = 96 for nov/dec they got , i think 33 from the REREQUESTING from the ual furloughees. So... That leaves 63 slots UNFILLED !!!! They will reinterview the ones that were in limbo, and provided they dont have major legal issues, failed a ton of checkrides, and or turned into a major douchhbag, they will get the "when can u start". U politely say "asap". And ur in.

Any other questions, just ask or pm...ill check back...

The gouge is awesome! Gonna be an 8 week vacation

Best of luck people!

Skippy!

And the UAL pilots don't want the same thing? You can stop acting like you are some put down, put upon, holier-than-thou, God's-gift-to-aviation. You lump EVERY CAL pilot into your above mentioned stero-type and then stand there and wonder why we argue and fight on this and every other board and why our unity isn't what it should be. Keep going. Your attiutde is helping to drive more CAL pilots further away each day. Oh, and make up some new FACTS. Here's one......UAL pilots will throw CAL pilots under the bus just like they did to their furloughed pilots and then blame some one else.

Thanks for posting Skippy. I have been here for almost nine months and most of the guys are pretty good to fly with. I am tired of hearing that a furloughed pilot has no career expectations however. If a furloughed United pilot was scheduled to be number one on the list before being furloughed he was still scheduled to be number one upon recall. United had over twice the number of wide bodies and twice the number on order. The good news is that by the end of the year we should have close to 400 United pilots on the property, a huge voting block and probably enough to gain seats on the MEC. Their tactic of delaying the contract to get as many upgrades as possible will come back to bite them in the ass.

Yea LCAL pilots are trying to stall for more upgrades because we haven't been working under our stellar contract long enough. GMAFB...

It doesn't matter if a furloughed will be #1 someday, all that matters is that he is furloughed NOW, because that company may not be around tomorrow.

Hope you and Skippy enjoy pulling gear for your 2005 hire Captains!

+1. Our reps at LCAL are doing THEIR JOB by representing us, just as yours are representing you. If we had furloughees working at UAL they would be hearing the same BS on the UAL campus and then some.
