Where are the "official" acceptance numbers?

No offense to "off the street" pilots that want to work at UCAL, but IMHO, the more furloughed (read "pi$$ed off") pilots that come back to the CAL offer, the "better" things will get. IF they start hiring off the street, they will most likely get ones that are eager just to be here, on probation, and will do anything to keep it going, and keep their jobs- in a downward spiral.
If more of the "seasoned" pilots get on, they are NOT on probation, or scared to refuse a trip, etc.... and maybe (?) things might get better slowly. PLUS they can turn down a crappy JCBA if there is one.
I don't know....

I'm sure if we had a contract or TA that was promising, more of the 1062 would come to CAL.
Why put yourself through that torture unless you absolutely have to? Besides the fact that when these remaining pilots are RECALLED they'll rejoin the airline at their rightful, respectful, seniority not shoved onto the bottom (stapled) like the CAL deal forces upon them.

Your reserve rules or the lack thereof keep the sane from signing on the dotted line.

As for recall, this isn't a recall to CAL but a offer of enployment. So like a newhire off the street they start at the bottom. Good portion o these guys are holding lines right now. Not sure why it appears that you have angst about this? I thought it was good to pay UA guys at their last rate too.
When and if United recalls, then yes they can go to thier previous place before the horrible furloughs took place. From here we can all hope for a good contract and a fair SLI from the arbitration.

The problem with this thinking is that their recall will be delayed by the new hires. They aren't temp workers.

I personally know a handful of guys that were originally bypassing the offer when the last deadline came around. Since then, they have changed their minds do to a variety of reasons. One is expecting to be in a November class and another 2 said they would be available for a January class. CV said the January class would be no problem. These guys were all hired post 2007. We will know Monday or Tuesday about the # of responses. I expect they won't get a large number and off the street hiring will be announced on Sept 14th. (my guess only).
