Concerning integrating seniority lists...it's hard to argue against the concept of everyone retaining their pre merger percentage seniority...and that current seniority has priority over what might have been a future seniority. Longevity was introduced as a factor after the US/AW and DL/NW mergers, but it was really because of US/AW....where, if I'm not mistaken, there were involuntary furloughees who had had 10-15 years on the property at US, and were stapled....I don't know where they would have fallen out on a straight percentage seniority integration basis.

Not a chance.
The key word you use is "recalled." You are not recalled and no one at sUAL has been recalled as you and they can only be recalled to sUAL.
What you suggest is why sUAL pilots at sCAL insist on being called "new hires" not "recalls."
At one time I was a bit foggy on this issue but because of your post I can now see why the distinction is so important.

That's why I put the "rolling eyes" after it.
When I "used" the word re-call, I meant to the United side.
Notice I said for me it was an CAL opportunity.
I didn't suggest anything, you read into it.
I was trying to point out that some say if your not "active" you'll get stapled, so being "active" in a few months, I shouldn't be stapled, right? ....
NEVERMIND. Missed the point of my sarcasm once again...
Go back and read some of my other posts. I do NOT say this is a "re-call" like some say ...

I did define fair a while back if you want to look for it. I have an issue with all the cal alpa merger policy as I beleive that is the only reason you belong to alpa. Would not trust you as far as I can throw you. Fair how bout we start merging you in when you joined alpa, good place to start. Sorry guys I really don't think anyone is looking out for our ual junior people, thats where my loyalty will stay.

2005 Continental hires can hold captain, can hold 777 FO line holder, hold any equipment out there. They are at about 72 percent on the relative seniority list. So an involuntary furloughed pilot will just slide right in? Bang you are now able to hold captain, and this is justified because you were hired in 1999??
Also, your really not comparing apples to apples. Doesn't matter what wonder bid they can currently hold, the snapshot will most likely be 2+ years ago. Everything since then is skewed and will most likely be completely ignored by the panel. If memory serves me correct, you also had furloughees recently, or are you suggesting that we be stapled behind them as well?
This is going to be a great place to work at if either side gets everything they think they are currently "entitled"
I sincerely hope nobody is happy with the results, myself including. KC

You can't take a 15+ year UAL pilot and staple him to the bottom of your list.
Thank goodness ALPA merger policy makes no mention of "pre merger percentage seniority".
CAL will look a little better than UAL at first when you look at junior guys getting beat up in the left seat with 7 years seniority, then longevity and career expectations of flying WAY more heavy jets will level the playing field a little.
CAL pilots will still gain seniority over a DOH type deal, so they should be happy.
Honestly....from 1983 until after 2000, CAL was on the bottom of most guys lists. This sudden superiority complex is kind of funny.

United,
You mention until 2000 and the desparity of no one wanting Cal. This was true. That was 12 years ago and a lot changed since then, over a decade to be exact. Guys used to leave SWA and Fedex to go to the big guys until after 2001. Time changes everything and going back to 2000 doesn't work anymore for any debate in my opinion.
I believe that the arbitrators will decide whatever and we will have to live with this collectively.

I remember when Saints fans wore bags on their heads. But that doesn't matter now does it. Btw, I still hate them. Almost 1/3 of us were hired after 2000. We don't have the 1980's view of CAL although most if us know the history. . Same with UAL. I have 10 buddies who'll never come back. We don't think we're superior at all. We just don't think UAL is either. It was stated correctly above; if anybody is happy the mediators messed up.
