Any rumors or updates?

Based on the current frenetic pace of flying and overworking of reserve pilots hiring may be a bit slow this year. Sorry :(

According to unverified sources (multiple and saying same thing), our volumes are down around 20% from pandemic highs, but still above 2019 levels. Revenue being affected much less.

Just out of curiosity, I don't think UPS would EVER do this, but could the hiring mins ever change from 1,000 TPIC to say 500? Again I doubt it would ever happen but was thinking of it just now.

Not sure if they will, but they should.

When you only hire a few hundred pilots a year and everyone is on a wide body payscale with a pension and b plan, you can remain picky on pilot stats. It’s not that we don’t have duds slip through. The company doesn’t feel any need to change things. I’m skeptical they will change them going forward unless one of Carol’s grandchildren wants to fly for us.

Recently got rated on the B767 at an ACMI with UPS is my dream airline to work at in the future, especially the prospect of flying the 747. Captain upgrades are quick here so hoping to move over to the left seat when I can but regardless of the 1,000 TPIC, what would help make me competitive for UPS when the time comes?

For reference, 0 check ride/line check failures, 100% student pass rate as a CFI/Gold Seal CFI/-I/MEI, and a 4 year degree. Thanks!

I can say from experience, if you have a friend(s)/peer(s)/associate(s) write you an internal pilot recommendation(s), that can float your application to the top...of course, provided you've met all the minimum requirements. Else, demonstrated leadership stuff like CA and LCA on your resume can also boost your app.

Upgrade as soon as you can and get as much TPIC time as you can. Try your best to get an internal recommendation(s). But most importantly to our pilot group; stay as humble as you can and be a good dude/dudette. Don't let anyone tell you it's not possible.
