As we prepare to post a new First Officer requisition on August 1st, our team created a TEST application for internal purposes. Unfortunately, this may have triggered an automated message. Please note that this was not an active application, and you can disregard that message.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to receiving your application when the position officially opens on August 1st!
Thank you,
Alaska & Hawaiian Pilot Recruitment Team”
FWIW I did not receive whatever accidental email they’re referring to in the first place.
Edit: just realized I read your question wrong. I don’t know what the initial email said.

Nothing is guaranteed. If the 787s all end up in Seattle there is a chance of displacement. If Alaska gives up the Amazon contract there is a good chance for a displacement. If both happen definitely count on a displacement. When you're junior you are the first to go. If you just got a cjo with Hawaiian all it means is you're on the bottom of the Hawaiian seniority list for now, and you will fly the aircraft on the Hawaiian side of the TPA.

I am not sure you will be given the choice. From what it sounds like, the HA side is hiring to the HA side, and the AS side is hiring to the AS side. Now, obviously from a seniority list standpoint, you will be integrated by DOH once SLI goes down but I have not heard if or when AS will take over hiring and place new hires on one side or another. As of now, I would apply to both and say yes to whoever gives you a CJO.

“Hello Alaska Pilots,
We’re very excited to officially launch our combined pilot hiring process for both the Alaska and Hawaiian seniority lists. We will begin interviews in September for classes scheduled to start after we achieve single operating certificate.
Please feel free to share the application link below with any pilots you know who are interested in joining our now larger Air Group. I’m very excited about our upcoming growth together.
The link to apply for the First Officer position will go live at 8:00am PT on Friday, August 1:”
Sounds like it won’t matter after September 1? It’s “combined pilot hiring” not exactly sure what that means. With the way hiring and growth go here I would get the first available class possible. My first class was cancelled and I didn’t get another for almost 3 months. It would make a huge difference now.

Yeah in the grand scheme of an airline career, take the first class available. Even if it means a couple years commuting.
I don't think they'd "punish" you for having a preference, since they like people with roots in their domicile zip codes, but the tyranny of seniority could absolutely punish you, for many years to come, if you let even a handful of folks get ahead of you. BTDT.

Take first available, you will probably commute either way unless you want SFO or LAX. What base do you want? On the Alaska side you will most likely start in LAX or SFO (current open positions). That probably won't change soon as 2023 Alaska hires are still trying to get to ANC, PDX, and SEA, depending on how early in the year they were hired. The last several classes hired have been commuting to reserve and getting unstacked this whole time. Be prepared for that.

Duly noted about first class available. Thanks for the info.
