Isn’t that the truth, until one of these disasters hits you all of sudden this place is a problem. Why is it to this very day MG says he bears absolutely no responsibility for ValuJet? None… That’s exactly what he would do here.

Next time you're driving across FL on the Tamiami Trail, stop by the Valujet crash memorial. It's a group of pillars representing each one of the victims. They are placed in the form of a triangle that points to the crash site several miles away. It's a sobering reminder on the dangers of sacrificing safety for profit. I wonder if MG has ever visited that memorial. I think I know the answer.

I've said all along that a regional FO should come here. But if you do don't act like you're doing us a favor.
Lots of attitude and looking at phones lately. Take a step back and realize that a lot of these captains you are flying with got hired in the dead zone of 2005-2009. Let's see you get a job at Allegiant when no one else has hired in years and the resume stack is limitless.

Saber tech was one of the primary culprits cited in the ValuJet mishap but they were by no means the only ones. As witnessed at Allegiant, the profit driven culture drove irrational cost controls and a "Biased for action" mentality. As a way to discourage pilots from writing up airplanes, ValuJet pilots were not pay-protected when there was a maintenance cancellation. This caused pilots to carry discrepancies, creating a 'git-r-done' culture. Pay for training, which was woefully inadequate, an environment of intimidation, threats of termination, the list is endless and reminiscent of what pilots see today at Allegiant. It's no surprise that there is such resistance to organized labor there, management likes their "flexibility". Same leader, same formula, same story. The leadership's refusal to acknowledge responsibility, the financial rewards of reckless abandon, and the amnesia of the FAA all combine to explain why the same story repeats itself. Best of luck there guys, tough battle ahead. Things won't change until the one common denominator changes: it's leader.

The TDY for August reveals an interesting perspective on QOL at G4. There are 550 pilots on the seniority list. This list includes management/non-line flying pilots. There are 55 TDY assignments for August. Any other airline have over 10% of their flying pilots on a temporary assigned base? So TDY of over 10% of your entire seniority list. Looks like G4 doesn't know how to staff their unique non-standard airline. I guess that "home every night" concept is shrinking, and with the new bases opening up, I'm sure the 10% number will increase soon.

Speak for myself? Um, isn't that *precisely* what I'm doing? 😏 Good for you that you somehow avoided TDY and have somehow avoided an overnight. Hopefully you'll somehow avoid an engine failure, too.
I, too, have worked for a regional...one of the worst paying ones in the industry. And while my pay was lower (as I previously pointed out), my QOL was the same if not worse. This is the reality when you have NO contract. Sorry the truth is offensive to you.

The legacies seem to have decided to shuffle the regional deck every 10 years to keep costs down. Even if you're fortunate enough no to be closed down or furloughed, the max pay at most regionals is around $100 an hr and it will take you 18 years to get there. As we both know, there are many guys on property that are holding captain in as little as 6 months on the 80 and the jr Airbus captain on the last bid was hired in August of last year. There is no opportunity that exists at any regional to make $140 an hour EVER much less within the first year of employment.
There are truck loads of problems with Allegiant and nobody can argue there isn't. We likely will never be on the same level as a legacy. This is what I've concluded and will move on at the first opportunity. As bad as we are compared to a legacy am still better off here than I ever would be at my old regional. (and I was at one with a good contract) If you are as deeply troubled by things at Allegiant as you say, work on getting out like me and every other guy here. We'll likely get our chance eventually. I'll keep fighting the good fight at G4 until that time comes, but I'd sooner sell used vacuum cleaners than go back to any regional.
