Reserve life seems to be different depending on which base you are in. It seems that the small bases use their reserves very little where the big bases use their reserves a lot. Also it seems the big bases use their reserves for rescue flights which include multiple days gone since the reserves stay with the broken airplane til it's fixed.

If you are at a base in Florida, you are reserve for ALL of Florida and will be limo'd all over rescuing aircraft, ferrying aircraft and flying other bases open time. I've found I get called a lot less on R5 or 6 vs R10 or 11. Seems like as the issues pile up during the day the reserves get called in to help clean up the mess.

What is R5/6 R10/11? Would PIT be a "small" base where reserves aren't used? Also is there a base in RIC? Or is that just a destination?

Any input on the phone screen?

I went through the phone screening last month. It was a conference call with HR and a line captain. Basically, they asked me to grab a copy of my resume and asked questions about my previous positions- and about a lapse in my employment history. They wanted to know everything I knew about Allegiant, as well as "Why Allegiant and not Jet Blue". Overall, it was about 20 minutes long and left me with a positive feel for the company,

R-whatever is your start time of your reserve period, R5 = 0500 start for a 12 hour period. R10 = 1000 start for 12 hours and so on. PIT is a small base and I have no idea about their reserve coverage and usage. I do know they are short on FOs so they are getting TDYd there from other bases. RIC is not a base.

Im not 100% certain but I believe the sim portion is in the 80 FTD. It's not all steam gauge, there are some digital displays I believe.

Interview is a lot like the phone screen but more getting to know you and your experiences then some HR TMAAT style questions that go with your resume/experience.

I know much depends on the base you're in, but what is the average time a newbie will have to sit reserve before holding a line?

"I don't need this," he said. "I don't need the job. It is going to take a crash to get everybody's attention on this baloney. Allegiant has lost control of its product in house. Their maintenance is nothing short of obscene."
