Cool thanks. What FMS does the 80 have?

Although the standards have gone up after the TA, these things like the video interview and skills assessment test probably have a lot more to do with simply weeding people out who are serious, and those who are bored in breakroom while they're sitting on reserve. There's always been a problem with people showing up unmotivated or simply no-showing.

Any idea how long after the video interview until you hear anything? The email that inviting me said they would be in touch within a week (I believe). Tomorrow will have been one week. I did get the assessment on Monday. Have not heard anyhing. Very anxious and want to get an interview scheduled. Thanks!

I have read the last 47 pages, I hope that is enough to ask a question about specific bases...

1) I looked up the g4pilots site. Are there really less than 10 FOs in both AVL and PIT? or is that just a sampling listed on the website.
2) What are estimated reserve and upgrade times in those two domiciles? (general swag, yes I know it can change tomorrow and YMMV)
3) What is the general QOL and pilot morale in those two domiciles?

Thanks!

1) Yes, and you can add Oakland to the list of bases with less than 10 FO's.

2) Because they are small, things are very volatile. Upgrade times are short. The most junior Airbus CA is Pit and most junior MD CA(not VBD) is AVL. Both hired 13 months ago. I don't believe there's immediate plans to add aircraft to either, so you'll only get off reserve if guys ahead leave.

3) I don't know, but probably like it is at any other base, the ones that live there because they want to, like it, the ones that commute or don't want to live there, don't like it.

Hi akulahunter... I'm PIT based. Here's my .02 Yes AVL and PIT are very small bases, smallest in the system. PIT is currently 1 airplane, AVL is 2. PIT is slated to get it's 2nd airbus November(ish) of this year, AVL is Md-80's converting over to the airbus towards the end of 2017 (I believe). I haven't heard of any specific expansion plans for AVL... PIT is rumored to keep growing, possibly adding a 3rd and 4th airplane in the next year or two (very much a speculative statement). PIT is extremely junior at the moment. There is not a single captain in our company who lives here, so captains are constantly cycling in and out. That said, almost all the FO's here (6 at the moment), live in/near the area and plan on staying; and I'm told that some of the recent new hires live in PIT as well and will be based here. I predict that just like all the other bases, it won't take long before it fills up with guys that live locally. And once that happens (especially on the captain side), and if they stop growing the base, it's anyone's guess as to how long the upgrade might be. As of now... I was an Aug 24, 2015 hire and I would think I'd be upgrading sometime towards the end of '17 or early '18, but there's very little growth in the company at the moment, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's very few upgrade classes in the next 12 months. AVL... I have no idea, but it's fairly junior on the FO side. QOL is fine here in PIT, as long as you live in base, if you don't, it's terrible. Small bases offer very few options in terms of bidding. We only have 1 or 2 flights a day here, sometimes none. The number 1 and 2 guy can get decent schedules, everyone else gets hosed. But again... it doesn't burn quite as much as long as you live in base. I was number 3 for quite some time in PIT, I bid mixed lines (some flying some reserve) and averaged 85-90 credit hrs a month and 8 days of flying, and 1 trip pick up on a day off. I was/am home ALL the time. Pilot morale is good for FO's as far as I can tell. Captains... We've had so many come through, it's run the gamut. But just judging from our contract vote, morale is certainly looking up.

If you're considering allegiant and plan on living in one of our bases, it's a no brainer man... best airline job in the US (my opinion, and subject to change).

I think it also comes down to good timing to bud. I have 121 PIC, check airman, 142 instructor, chief pilot but I also have had many jobs. So anyone that looks at my resume without hearing my story would think I jumped around.

They did ask me about my resume, and I have had some long term jobs. But many short term ones due to well, aviation industry just being aviation industry. I think they are looking for certain personality traits as well.

Thanks

It's hard to tell if these bases are really junior or just seem junior because they are new and are getting new guys but really they'll be stagnant soon. That's what PIT looks like especially with FOs living there. Seems like long upgrades for new guys, the Airbus are just replacing the current MD80s.
