Why have Miami crews lay over at UVF/LIR/etc. after only flying three hours when you can have an NY/ORD crew do it and you get six or seven hours out of them instead? I feel for them but they're too close to the action. Probably not going to get better any time soon for them (worse since they're starting to give NY guys LT checkouts).

Roughly a month and a half or so without delays.

yup, the optimizer sucks and our union spent exactly zero negotiating capital to try to protect pairings.

January new hire told me they only had 1.5-2 weeks between indoc and ground school.
Ground school/sims will take 6ish weeks, including days off.
Welcome!

Welcome!
I think what the OP was getting at is the 50/week sustainable indefinitely with the sims, or is that time between indoc and GS/sims going to start stretching out.

my question is when should I start bidding Hawaii trips in the hopes of not having a CKA assigned to it and getting removed from it…

There's a lot of sims in SV3 and they've moved most 320 recurrents (besides DFW locals) to CLT. There's no rush to fill classes so a candidate won't go to United instead so I'm guessing the 50/week is exactly what they think they have the capacity for.

All these drops were heavy 73 so once those sims are gummed up they can go heavy 320.

We'll see.

It just makes sense. How could the union negotiate for the company to not optimize the efficiency of trips?
