We (or he...not sure who "you" is addressed to) are not going to "pass up" anything. It's the company that's going to send this to arbitration. The company gave a deadline of tomorrow PM for the association to come to the table prepared to discuss the company's wants only or accept arbitration. That is not a negotiation. That is a cram down. The BOD is not going down like that...we're not going down like that.

About all he is doing is undercutting the negotiating committee and the BOD (or that is what it looks like he is attempting. Just looks like a smooth talking disgruntled BOD outsider to me.)

I am sure he is a great guy with standup intentions, but I think he stepped on his crank by copping that defeatist tone on CR in the midsts of negotiations.

.... Or maybe he is using reverse psychology and is trying to toss a grenade on the members.

Yes, the BOD is unified. I think that they simply aren't willing to nullify themselves simply to avoid arbitration. Capitulation to this now would destroy them with their own pilots. Unless by some miracle Parker has a last minute change of heart, the trigger of arbitration will have to be pulled. What occurs between the parties in the interim after that prior to actual hearings is anyone's guess.

He says a lot you can't believe, and a lot you can take to the bank. You just have to know which is which. As far as arbitration, in my opinion you can bet your ass he means that. I'm not suggesting anything either way, just making a statement.

Oh, I got a call from the CP's office too, just didn't have to visit. And I wasn't participating in the action as I thought it was stupid. It was a tense call, but ended on friendly terms. A quote from the FOM can come in handy sometimes.

Parker couldn't care less if we go to arbitration. What does he lose? Angry pilots? Well, been there, done that...no problem. Worried Wall Street? Not at this point, because the $ numbers keep rolling in to keep their eyes all glassy. Loses on the company requests? Pfft, their "requests" are pretty minor things. Slight chance they may get some of that in arbitration, particularly regarding the callout time, health care tax, etc. But no real losses he's worried about...and he gets to keep more $.

So really...management doesn't care if this is arbitrated or not. If we come up with an agreement, fine. Then he's a Wall St hero and they probably get some minor concessions from us. If we go to arbitration...see above. NO worries.
