R57,
We signed on to this MOU, and merger, to get rid of the long standing toxic management that existed at AMR - not to become Parker and Kirby's friends.
We were promised a culture change and a management that wanted to LEAD this airline.
And now it appears that we have the same exact management style as before.
I am not shocked nor outraged.. .more like, "business as usual, let's go to war once again."
They have apparently chosen to fight the pilots instead of following Richard Anderson's style. Bring it on, the AA pilots are no strangers to this tactic. They are going to quickly realize this is not the old USAir culture here.

The plan was to support Parker/Kirby over Arpey/Horton to get the traditional airline model over the virtual model. 80% vs 50% of the flying. NOW it's headed back to 50% under P/K IMO.
Looks like slugging it out in trench warfare is back in vogue. Now that Glass has been inserted into the equation expect chemical warfare.

I hope things are different. We don't have a third of the pilot group willing to cut the other two thirds throats, so that's a start. But you are also not dealing with a management group that was trying to get something out of you like you were before. They've already gotten it!
I hope you're right. You told us "We've got this" so we'll be watching. Parker has never worried about if pilots were happy, maybe it will be different this time.

The main problem with the old US culture was a fractionalized pilot group. AA doesn't have that now?

And I'm not so sure "we've got this:" more like, "we want a team that knows how to run an airline." It just so happens that APA cautiously went after it. We shall see.
