You are the only one who has remotely suggested any illegal job actions. The words "unhappy pilot"does not equate to illegal job action. You simply do not get it. We believe that this time we have the advantage. We believe that the worst arbitration outcome would be better than what Parker just offered. Why are you talking about illegal job actions? This is an entirely different climate than any of the other instances that you mentioned. AGAIN no one is promoting, suggesting - hinting about something that will not be necessary.
You say you are a usairways pilot. I must say I am completely flummoxed.

From the APA board the pilots seem to think they can bring Parker to heel. I've never seen a pilot group do that and I saw a very aggressive action when a small group of east pilots tried to.

There is a cost to unhappy employees. I'm just not sure Parker can see it, because it's hard to quantify. Things like poor complaint stats can be reasoned away.

One problem we've always had is that some guys go out and do something really stupid and get fired. That tends to get everyone in line. Guys, don't be stupid this time. Don't go on C&R and brag about what you're going to do.
I do not think anyone is anywhere near doing anything or advocating anything that would get someone fired. I know he has hired Glass and we should hire someone to counter glass- there's a lot of us, we can afford it. Again, why would arbitration bring about this reaction any more than a substandard contract. This is not a time for emotions. This is a time for resolve and I really think that is all there is here and that this is a good thing. How do you expect folks to react to this insult from management?

and IF the arbiter ruled favorably toward labor then expect AAG to appeal it in Federal court.
a negotiated settlement is best.

"We believe". Who is "we"? (I think THAT is your first problem) Second, if you even READ the offer, which I have, and done the MATH it's a GREAT offer. Now, I grant it could possibly be tweaked in some form, but other than that it beats digging ditches. I'm NOT in your group of "unhappy" pilots.

BTW, I'm TALKING about illegal job actions because I can "read between the lines" on these (and MANY other) forums and I know the trigger words. "Minimum work", "by the book", "What they did in Flying the Line", etc., etc.

You can't fool me, and you can't fool management.

But I will concede that the "war talk" is over and see if we can get back to the contract discusion. So you say your flummoxed. For pilots, I would say vexed but I like your style. So let's have at it.

WHAT DO AND DON'T YOU LIKE ABOUT THE OFFER. Let's keep it real and maybe we can all come to some meeting of the minds. OK?

Route66,

I am not sure what you see as a great offer from the company. I have read what is posted and it is note even close to a great deal, as you say. The payrates barely pass DAL, with no provisions to keep pace or to even match their profit sharing, which for this year will be about 15% of their pay. The scope slight of hand is a huge grab, the 2 hour call out is not workable, at any of the bases and they want us to pay a 40% excise fee on our healthcare to offset the charges from Obummer care.

So tell what you see as a great deal. I would be interested in how you would define great.

Rte66 has some serious Stockholm syndrome going on. Comparing our job to ditch digging? GMAFB! Doug the drunk is use to heading, not leading 3rd tier struggling airlines. Via 3 mergers he now has one with the potential to be a dominant player. However, he wants to run it as a 3rd tier struggling carrier. Unsat. My guess is rte66 is either mgmt. or old and senior and just wants to grab the extra money now, and could care less what he leaves behind for the rest of you. These mgmts. received a once in a lifetime opportunity to F us every which way but sunday post 9/11. Guess what? Those days are over. Hang tough and just do your job. These airlines could not function without us constantly doing other peoples jobs and going above and beyond. We are the glue that keeps these machines running smoothly.
