I think we have to keep on trying, but no one seems to learn from the past. Glass uses the pilot's mentality against them. I think this whole scope thing is doing just that, get them fired up and making lines in the sand to push them into arbitration. Then Parker can say "It was their choice...."
Route66 is just a little more fatalistic about this.

I'm pretty sure I know who it is and he is trying to get you to think about the situation. What I get is that he feels that we have been played by Parker and Glass, and they will prevail in the end. I wouldn't do it the way he does, but...

There it is. If you are an American pilot...finally someone who comes to the realization of the reality of the MOU. Remember, you voted for it.
The company has ALWAYS been..."you want something, give us something in return or we just go to arbitration where you get less....probably." The reason for Jerry Glass's return is in preparation for arbitration. First with the F/A's and next with us.
You can say holdout on scope until 2019 under the CBA but rest assured the company will be ready for us.
If some of you are considering job action, you better rethink you're future because the law (as it stands today, anyway) will not support you. The courts have ruled in both USAPA's, APA's and Delta's cases that you WILL BE FINED and held in contempt of court if you do.
The West pilots were more than willing to turn in ANY East pilot whom they thought were doing a job action and their former MEC Chairman even asked Parker on company video how they could report them for it.
You can't trust the pilots of APA (new or old) do do anything....why jeopardize YOUR job? That's the reality.
Sounds like less than a call to arms (subjective yes you bet), rather "give up there is no hope"

I do think that the prevailing wishful thinking that good employee relations should be priced at DAL rates is overly exaggerated. But Jack is correct the JCBA yielding MOU cost neutral would be disastrous. I will repeat, APA needs to recruit a negotiator on par with Glass to navigate this quagmire. And do it yesterday

So apparently it is your opinion that arbitration would lead to unhappy pilots rather than unhappy management. The pilots would certainly less unhappy than with what Parker is willing to give. Talk about sad- how sad is it that we are here again. Name just one time - just once, that Parker gave the pilots a dime that he wasn't forced to give. In fact, I remember him spending money to fight pilots rather than negotiate.

I'll be more unhappy with a better hourly rate, but constantly worried about stagnation, or worse yet, a furlough. If it takes living with the MOU to hold the line on scope, then I'm perfectly happy doing that. Bring on arbitration.
This isn't just about standing together as AA pilots to protect our own careers - this effects everyone, from our buddies at Delta and United, to the regional guys trying to move up.

There is nothing worse than an employee that does the bare minimum - especially in the airline industry. I hope they know that.
Like I said, this is a whole new ball game for them and I think they are severely underestimating the resolve of this pilot group.
They had a chance to lead, a la Delta, and blew it. I don't care how much of an "expert" Jerry Glass is - he doesn't know this group and has not dealt with them.
They wanted arbitration, now they're gonna get it...and probably cry about it when it doesn't pan out the way they expected it to.

They are counting on the 5-10 yr guys breaking ranks in hopes of recouping the decade of hits to their retirement (among other factions picking and choosing parochial issues). Union busting is about taking Collective out of Collective Bargaining.
