A 30-day TDY that one can bid for a very high guaranteed payout...cannot be junior-assigned, and therefore must be volunteers...can be anywhere in the system, and is mostly a reserve line, but usually they get their pound of flesh by the time it's over!!

30 days on the duty rig? Don't tell me it's in Asia.

Sounds good if you are running away from something.

Which assumes you can get the open time on an "X - day" which is not always the case, especially for a junior crew member. Which is why, on the FO side we have seen most of those who are out basing are junior FOs. You have a higher guarantee and if you are gone the whole month (likely) you will make about double what you would have made working a "normal" schedule (if not a little more via hazardous pay/override).

Shame you are not open to spending time in Asia (it seems from here anyway)...some of the best places to layover are indeed in Asia.

BTW, and I don't know if Atlas is your thing or not, but if it is there is NO way to avoid Asia (or any major city in the world) if you want to work here, especially on the 747. So, may not be a good idea coming to Atlas.

Up to 33 days, (or longer, actually). It's a high payout because of the large number days away - it pays the same daily rig as any other trip (4.85 hours per full day), whereas with Open Time or Vx days, you get an override of +2/+4/+6/+6 hours per day. And you don't get any extra time off in the previous/following month.

But, it's a guarantee, provided they don't decide to send you home early, which they can do as well.

I meant that the other way... like if you tell me it's in Asia I'll be first in line to volunteer when I need a vacation.
