The true dealings between 1224 and FW pilot may never be revealed. The fact is FW was to cease operations and Southern came to save only if without 1224. There plan was always to join 1224 at the right moment after Southern was deeply invested. Welcome FW, now you're 1224.

After multiple failed attempts to invite their pilot group into 1224, which started back when Southern Air bought Florida West, a 1224 pilot rep from Southern traveled to Miami. He is on APC and follows this thread so I will give him the opportunity to detail his failed efforts but I can assure you, every effort was made by 1224 to bring the Florida West pilots into the fold but the Florida West pilots refused.

But the FW guys will still be on a pay scale that's higher than Southern's.
To think that SAI management was going to try to use FW to drive wages down for SAI pilots.
The SACG, actively courted the FW pilots, to join us fraternally and were roundly told to GFY, and back-stabbed into the bargain!
Now they are warmly welcomed, into the fold, get better treatment, raises and better work rules than all the Southern pilots!
SAI pilots = "The Biggest Loser(s). This sux, SAI pilots haven't done anything to deserve this!

Never in 1224's power to either save or ruin FW. What evaporating, already paper thin, SA air freight margins didn't do, staggering losses on the Tam fiasco did. Nearly unanimous, pilots wanting no part of SAI, that much is true.
Hauling for Air Haiti with the 1st 707 replacing C46's. A decade's ups & downs dissolving into a stock charade, buyer precipitated shut down. Rebirth as DC8 ad hoc bidder. 60's traded up for 70's, becoming later one of the very first 76 factory freighter lessors for LAN. Earning it a DOJ raid for fixing flower contracts on that customer's surcharge practices. A corrosion corner regular, local legend of sorts, detained on her way to the ramp; demanding to see badges only to find out the FBI t-shirt squad didn't actually have any. Port in the storm for so many. Alumni serving nearly all the major players both here and beyond. No real boo boo's unless you include the GSO cowl bang, with an ASI aboard. #4 was it? Where did he end up again? Oh yeah, never mind The page has turned on pint sized, heavy non-sked ops..and it's time.
Just don't label the remaining few offered a new hire spot for something they didn't do. None of them had a hand in any of this. I know because I did.

Actually, they aren't going to ANC, but rather CVG. Eighteen start tomorrow on the 767.

However if you're committed to living elsewhere, I can see how it'd be a major inconvenience!
