They do this to avoid being taxed on the travel. You will be taxed on the air and hotel costs as if they were regular income.

Been updating my resume since December 2011. Chicago Jobfair...still waiting for the call. Atlas is my #1 preference. I know there are a LOT of folks looking to get on with them as well... Great outfit. Do any of you insiders know if they hire 121 guys without 121 PIC time? I do have about 4500hrs of RJ time (right seat)..sad..
and about 6000hrs total.
Competing with the C5 or C17 or other ACMI guys is probably tough with these times...

I was hired at Atlas with similar experience to yours. Based on RJ guys I have met that have been hired, it seems that after about seven years at a regional, Atlas considers you qualified. Good luck and keep the faith.

I suspect that aircraft is going to be used to replace Southern Air our of Brize Norton. We (K4) have flown numerous trips for them this over the past 30 days and it was known then that Atlas was picking it up starting 1 Feb...

Yep. That's a done deal. Soutern no longer has the contract. It's ours now. I was there 2 weeks ago and got confirmation.

Great to know... 7 years seniority is a couple months away...
I keep the faith and will keep sending HR my bi-monthly resume update... One of these days, they'll call me! And I'll probably be in the air

Not to worry, they know you're a pilot. They'll leave a message and wait a reasonable amount of time for your return call.

To the current 747 & 767 guys, since the daily guarantee are you noticing more productive flying? Meaning are you doing more flying when on and less time sitting in hotels? Also, do you notice more time at home? I've searched this site a bit, but most likely have missed the answer if it's in there. The reason for my question is that I currently fly internationally and find that if I'm on the road for a long period of time it's nice to have over 24hrs at a layover for sleeping and getting out, but it's also nice to be productive and have a little more home time as well. ACMI is not specifically consistent, but maybe there is a general theme here. Thanks in advance.
